When I load a game, the screen shows Sony Entertainment, and then prompts you to hit enter, then it takes you to another screen where past game histories have been saved and so I click past each but it doesn't allow me to play the game. It stays on that same screen?
When the disk starts up there is a section of data that tells the ps2 that it is an original ps2 disk. Your ps2 is not recognizing the code. You will probably need to replace the system or take it to a professional.

I was experiencing the same problem on my ps2 slim scph-90004. When I put a game in my ps2 it loads but after some time it just freezes at the same spot.I went to many shops but they dont recognize my problem.Then i open my ps2 slim (Warning:Opening of ps2 my void your warranty) and saw the lens which was not adjusted. SO,if you are experiencing the same problem then use the above method(For slim only).Look at the rod near the lens which has two small clips on it. Open the screws on the clips and take out your ps2 lens.Clean it with a cotton.Set the lens in some different position and load your games .
Dear Sir!You should increase the disc speed.Follow these steps to increase the disc speed:
Step 1>>Turn on your PS2 without inserting any disc into it.
Step 2>>Wait for the main menu [Containing Browser and System Configuration ].
Step 3>>Press Triangle Button to enter Version Information menu.
Step 4>>Move the cursor to Play Station Driver and Press Triangle to enter Play Station Driver menu.
Step 5>>At PlayStation Driver screen, Press x at Disc Speed and set it to Fast.
Step 6>>Enter game disc and enjoy.

Depending on the age of the console will depend on what games can be played. I never had this issue with my ps2 original but with my slim console it won't play some games.
Try inserting the disc in your computer. If it reads its fine. Then look if the Slus...... is compatible.maybe thats why it doesn't play. your ps2 must have an old bios system even if slim.
make sure the game disc isnt dirty. also check the eye (game disc reader) to see if its dirty. if u cant see it (you probably wont b able to) then take it to a place like target or gamestop(GS). i reccomend GS.
You must have a Slim model, as only slim models are aggrevating about adjusting and clenaing. If not take a Magnifying glass or Jewelers Loupe to look at the laser lens extremely close.Sometimes it takes a good bit to get it clear.
