GE side by side refrigerator model no TFG20JAWWW 627 litre is occasionally leaking water

Check the drip tray in the freezer section where defrost water drips from the defrost heater melting frost during the defrost cycle. If ice blocks the drain hole in the tray inside the freezer(usually behind the evaporator cover) the defrost water will travel into the bottom of the freezer & onto your floor. Some models also have a second evaporator in the fresh food section. A blocked drain or clogged defrost drain tube can cause the problem.

My GE fridge is leaking water on the freezer side

Hi,

This would be due to the defrost drain being clogged. The automatic defrost cycle melts the frost on the evaporator every few hours and the water from that is suppose to flow down a drain tube, if the drain becomes restricted the water will leak out the freezer door. Here is a link to some instructions I put together on how to clean it out.

Water leaking out the bottom of the freezer even when water is shut off

The defrost drain is clogged causing the water from the defrost cycle to flow down to the freezer floor. The defrost drain and drain trough are located behind the freezer panel at the back of the freezer wall inside. Remove this cover to get to the defrost drain and remove ice. Do not use any thing that may puncture or damage the evaporator coils because this is what you freon flows thru to do your cooling. Thank you for using fix ya.

On TCD18PAD BWW refrig with freezer (drawer, not door) on bottom, water accummulates in bottom of freezer and freezes into ice which some how thaws with water flowing out bottom of drawer door onto kitchen...

You have a clogged defrost drain tube. On the back of the refrigerator in the center, about two feet above the floor, is a 7 inch by 7 inch square steel cover held on by four screws, one at each corner. The defrost drain tube emerges from the bottom of this cover and terminates loose in the drain pan below the refrigerator. Remove the cover. Underneath is the plastic defrost drain tube fixture, which is held by two screws. Remove the screws and take off the drain tube fixture. This fixtue is clogged. Run hot water and dish detergent through it and blow through it at the big end to remove the clog. Reassemble. That's it. You don't have to take the refrigerator apart. One caution. When the refrigerator has a clogged drain tube, the defrost water will back up and freeze around it. So you may need to empty your freezer and unplug the refrigerator for eight hours or so first before you perform this procedure to allow all the ice around the clogged drain fixture to melt.
