As the cyclone brand spreader is "gone" from use, what are the equivalent settings to currently match spreading rates as listed on fertilizer bags for spreaders currently in use.

That model is still available very easily from lots of outlets including Amazon. The settings refer to a 'spread per square yard' and is translatable to any broadcast spreader.

Usual to find this info on the fertilizer itself. It will show which number to set the spreader at.

Usually the cheaper residential grade spreaders are not exact, nor do they need to be. The best way to tell how close it is, is to measure the area to be fertilized length and width. Multiply the two numbers (example: 30' x 40' = 1,200sq ft.) Adjust the spreader according to the reccomendations on the bag, and follow the directions exactly! Walk at a brisk pace around the perimeter once, and then back and forth spaceing your passes about 5' for rotory spreaders. Compare the amount of product you used, to the coverage chart on the bag. In my experience, most all lawn fertilizers are best spread at 50% to 60% open on your spreader setting adjuster. (example: If your spreader has settings of 1-15, I'd go with 8) Always follow the directions on the product container as best you can. Spreading a little too heavy, or a little too light is not going to hurt anything, so there is no reason to be concerned with exact calibration unless you are applying discriminative herbicides... Does the product you are using list any Scotts AccuGreen spreader settings? If so, you can safely use the spreader settings listed for the Scotts AccuGreen. If your product does not list any spreader settings, please give Scotts a call at 866-465-5160.

Check the fertilizer bag for instructions. It will tell you the number to set it at for a drop spreader and a broadcast spreader.

Below is a list of spreader settings. You may want to call Scotts at 800-543-8873 and verify the product you are using is able to be used in a hand held spreader.

• For fine grass seed (blue, rye, fescue) use setting 1
• For coarser seed (tall fescue) use setting 2
• For light fertilizer (Scotts fertilizers at a regular rate) use setting 3
• For heavy fertilizer (Scotts fertilizers at a heavy setting) use setting 4
• For pelletized fertilizer and ice melt products use setting 5

Your SpeedyGreen 2000 Rotary Spreader spreader was calibrated at the factory. However, a spreader's calibration may change or slip during periods of frequent or heavy use.
You may check the calibration by using the following directions. First, adjust your micrometer setting to 2. Squeeze the trigger against the handle. The calibration line is a small, raised line embossed on the top of the spreader's shut-off plate. With the micrometer set at 2 and the trigger squeezed against the handle, the calibration line should be aligned with the back edge of the hopper opening.
To adjust the alignment, use a small wrench to turn the black calibration screw at the lower end of the control wire leading from the micrometer rate setting barrel. Adjust the screw until the calibration line and back edge of the hopper meet. If you have any difficulty checking the calibration, contact us and we will be happy to help walk you through the adjustment.
When you are not pulling on the trigger handle, the cable should be loose. When you pull on the handle, the cable becomes taut and the shutoff plate slides open.

add 10 - Scotts Turfbuilder spread at # 4 on a Scotts spreader should be on setting # 14 on an Earthway spreader.

Since I didn't have a manul, I downloaded one from Scott's and used that to calibrate the spreader which was out of calibration.
