Starter is slow then it surge and start the engine....often times its slow and wont start....my battery and the connections are good....I just recently put a remanufactured starter.....what could be wrong?

Check your battery cables. The battery cables could be routed by engine or exhaust components that get the cables hot which in turn will cause resistance and cause the slow cranking. The fact that it starts fine after sitting tells me something is probably getting heat soaked. If you're sure it's not the starter I would check the cables and especially ground connections to the frame, engine block, and body. Check resistance with a multimeter if you are able. If they are the original cables I bet that's it. If the starter and alternator are good then the cables are probably at fault. I would also check the starter relay but that wouldn't cause slow cranking..

Make sure battery has a full charge and battery connections all good. Make sure starter motor circuits have good voltage and ground. At the moment I can't rule out starter motor. Any testing at the starter motor, make sure tranny is in park or neutral and functional parking brake is set.
How long since a tune-up?

This procedure usually works:

• Check the battery cable connections:

Make sure the positive cable, makes a good connection at the battery and at the starter. Make sure the negative cable makes a good ground connection at the battery and (preferably) at the engine.

• Check the battery the simple way, like this:

Turn on the headlights, then try to start the car.If the headlights do not dim or go out, then the battery is likely ok.

• Check the starter and solenoid:

If the wiring looks ok, then look at the starter solenoid for a good connection, and proper voltage at the starter(10 volts minimum while cranking).
If the starter spins and no crank, the problem is most likely the Solenoid's bendix gear is stuck.
Have someone hit (not too hard) the starter while you try to start the car. This usually works by dislodging a stuck bendix gear.

• Make a simple test of the alternator:

If you can, somehow get the engine running, measure the voltage at the battery. It should be at least 13.6 volts to properly charge the battery.

Read your owners manual or use the internet,
to find out what the dash symbol is

Any dash light that is on, you should have checked for codes

The alternator has nothing to do with starting the motor

You didn't say how any of the testing was done, or the results

What about spark,injector pulse & fuel pressure

check ground wire at battery, and fire wall

need good 12 volts 11 volts starter turn engine over slow then starter solenoid start clicking.the pull in and hold in windings in solenoid wont have enough power to hold in engage starter drive pinion.have battery charged and load tested.make alternator keeping battery charged.if battery over 5 years old time to replace.

2 things come to mind, first check and clean all battery and starter connections. second, maybe you have something draining the battery. next time it rolls slow, put on a battery charger and see what happens. also, even though it is a new battery, it still could have a weak cell.

If the connections from the battery to the starter solenoid is good, the ground of the battery is good and the ground of the engine is good then the starter must crank well.
If there is slow cranking it is due to a faulty flywheel connection to the starter pinion, a tight engine/ faulty timing setting..... assuming that the battery and starter motor is double checked.

run a avr test on the battery.then check the wiring to the starter,the starter itself.alot of times people sya the battery is good because the headlights are bright,but 10 amps to run lights is not 300 amps to start a v8 engine.

Is starter engaging but is turning the engine slowly then not turning engine? (that's what I'm reading) If so, check both connections at the block and starter. If reading proper voltage 12v or better, check voltage across battery when in "start" if it drops below 9.5v the starter has failed. (you can turn the engine by hand...correct?)
