take a flash light when the tv is on with sound then point it directly at the display see something? I betcha do and you got a bad back light or inverter the powers it so yeah you need repair. From your model i taken this is a lcd back-lit display.
if not let me know right away but from what your saying this is what it sounds like it is check it out for yourself. but this will need a repair shop no matter how you slice the cake. please od accept my solutions for my efforts thanks

Do you get sound in tv?
What is model and brand of your tv?
Does tv show any on-screen display?
Does tv remain power up or shuts down after a while?

I do not see that info in your question that is why I asked.
Question page shows it is Polaroid FLM-3732 tv so you can confirm it.
Regarding on-screen display info, it will help me to diagnose the problem.

I have a 37 lcd atsc tuner flm3732 flat screen polaroid tv
I tried to turn on ,light went from red to blue,blinked one time
Tv didn't come on,no picture ,no sound
I pushed power button,light stays blue
Un plug and replug ,light is red,push again goes blue,no sound no picture
I saw online lots of comments about the same problem
One poster said they found a solution at this site
