My laptop does not recognise my Seagate Freeagent Pro anymore. I plugged it in but it says that it does not have a driver installed.

I have 3 of these drives. Once in a while their icons disappear from the screen.
Looking at the computer with Drive Image 8.0 shows the drive name as being corrupted and the only fix I have found so far is to reformat the drive. That loses the stored data. Sometimes deleting corrupted files (made my accessing these drives??) in the C:\Windows\Temp folder gets the drives up again.
I am backing one drive to the other so as to have two backups until I can further determine what is causing the problem.
The symptoms are the same with 4 different computers. The drives are formatted in NTFS and I have not tried FAT format yet.

Windows xp will not recognise the seagate freeagent desktop drive

Assuming you have tried other usb ports and had no change, remove the usb connection, then go back into device manager and select the usb controller, right click and select delete as this will erase any input driver the usb port recognises. Restart the pc and then the controller should be reinstalled automatically as it sounds as though the controller has become corrupt for some reason. Go back into device manager and check there are no exclamation marks, reconnect the drive and see if it's recognised.

My Seagate FreeAgent Pro HD won't turn on anymore. Any suggestions?

If it's not turning on at all anymore and it's plugged in properly, there isn't much you can do. Everything I've purchased from SeaGate wasn't meant to last. In other words, after a year or so, they quit working. It's probably some kind of marketing scheme to get you to spend more money. Open up the case, take out the drive and stick it in your computer. That way you can still salvage what's left on it.
