Other person cannot hear me

I have a Dell Latitude 510 laptop (4 years old) that has a mic jack. I purchased a Logitech webcam with built-in mic and USB connector, and though the video works fine, and I hear people through the laptop speakers, people cannot hear me. Is there a compatibility problem?

You are in a situation of having 2 mics
Make sure the webcam mic is set as default
TEST SPEAKERS
Right click on speaker icon in System Tray or from Control Panel
Select "Playback Devices"
The speaker icon ( checked as working) and volume level graph should be visible
Right click on the volume graph and click "Test"
Left hand speakers followed by right hand should be heard

SET DEFAULT & TEST MIC
Click "Recording" tab.
To set required (webcam) mic as default - click on mic font to highlight and click "Properties"
In lower dropbox display "Use this device enable" click 'OK'
Click "Levels" tab and ramp up sliders ( adjust to suit later)
Return to "Recording". Test mic by speaking and make sure volume graph displays

Restart computer

Just plugging in the external mike into the jack should AUTOMATICALLY disconnect the internal mike.

I have just installed a Logitech webcam C120 and I did receive the sound from the person I was calling, but no sound from me, is there a microphone included in this webcam, or have I bought the wrong one

I don't believe this unit has built in microphone. If you are using live messenger or skype for the camera you can go into the audio and video setup, in there you can tell if you have a mic or not. the box which would let you choose your mic (many computers have built in mic) if the box says no mic attached, you don't have one. you can buy a cheap mic from radio shack or store like best buy. they cost less than 10 bucks. of course you could use anymic that you can plug into the 1/8 in jack on your comptuer ( the red one).

Please help me

You need to check if the mic/s is working?
Are you certain the Logitech webcam has a built-in mic?
To check if the mic works go to Start - All programs - Accessories - Entertainment - Sound Recorder and test record your voice and play back to check, also try it with the laptop's built-in mic (if it has one) and the Logitech mic.
If both mics work then you have a choice of which one you can use in Skype, most likely the best one would be the Logitech one.

You need to configure your audio settings in Skype.
When you open Skype click on Tools - Options - Audio Settings and click on Select Microphone and select the microphone you are using and save the setting.

If you still have problems get back to me with all details and error messages.

We both see eachother and they can hear me but i cant hear them

It is an easy fix on Skype, I am assuming that is the program you are using for video conferencing. If not you will have to do just about the same thing to correct it. In Skype go to the tools selection on the top bar, select options from the menu, select audio settings and use the drop down selection list and change the source to the USB Mic on the camera from the current selection. You should be able to hear them once this is done. In other programs you need to do just about the same thing since windows uses the default mic. plug in the back of the computer. You just have to change it to the correct source for the mic. Good Luck, RAC

I have a Dell Inspiron 1525 without the webcam .. when I use my headphone jacks in the front of my laptop I'm able to hear but the they can't hear me through my headset microphone. They're only able to...

Be sure that your headphone mic plug jack is plugged in to the mic jack (right-most jack) and not the second headphone jack. If so, check your sound setting in Control Panel and make sure the mic is enabled and the volume slider for it is up.
