I have a 50V715 purchased in 2004 no picture.

If you turn the tv off for about 1020 seconds, turn it back on and see if you have a clear picture, if not it sound like a power supply problem in the tv. but if that did not solve the problem, the picture board on your tv is now malfunctioning or as gone bad, it means the picture board of your tv has developed fault and will need to be replace.

I advice you replace the picture board on the screen of your tv to solve the problem.

There's something wrong in the power source of the tv , very bad sign on a tv just 2 weeks old. Just take it back, not worth the hassle.

It will do the same thing, until a repairman comes out, and services the TV set...

Symptom: No power / Dead Unit / Comes On and protects itself, Power LED may blink in 3 or 4 times cycles.

Cause: Check/Confirm SDR buffer ICs are not shorted, follow link to check. If so, replace affected SDR PWB.

I don't know what model you have but ... the 50v715 I have did the same thing. Would come up for about 3 to 30 sec's (picture and sound) then shut down and do again. It was the BULB going out. You probably just need to replace your bulb. Check your manual on how to change it out. Make sure you buy an original Hitachi replacement I think there made by phillips. Hope this is helpful.

I would check to see if any of the fans stop turning or don't turn when set turns on. They do have sensors monitoring them and the set will shut down if they are not turning. I believe there are three fans around the chassis.

Have you replaced the lamp ? Make sure the door cover is closed good because there is a switch that is made when the door cover is put back on. Also you could have a bad ballast board or bad power unit board. Just a thought...... Hope this is helpful.

I don't know what model you have,but... I have a 50v715 and it was doing the same thing and it turned out to be the lamp. So if you have not replaced the lamp in a while then it could just be it time. Hope this is helpful.

You may need to set your screens look at the picture when you have a real dark background if there is faint lines in the picture then the screens should be set correctly

Unplug your set from the wall and wait a few minutes. This fixed the same issue on my 50V715
