If you don't have the right tools don't even try - you'll risk damaging your nice watch. Instead, take it to a watch shop or jewelry store (Sears does it too) and let them do it with the right tools, correct battery and - very important - a new gasket to keep it water resistant. Cost for the battery replacement is about $8.

Process for doing a battery change?

Open the back of the watch, take the battery out, put a new one in, put the back of the watch back on.
Or take it to a local jeweler, ask what they charge and how long to do it. It's usually $5 to $10 depending on the price of the battery.

How can I remove the back to change battery?

Yep.. unless you have a self winding one. They require a sharp jewelers tool to open.. Sometime you can do it yourself , but you chance ruining the watch with scratches. The jeweler puts the watch in a holder that protects the crown and steady the watch. He then takes a tool and inserts it in the seam of the watch back and pops the back open. After the battery is changed the back is pressed back into place by the devise that can put pressure on the back without risking cracking the crown.. Come on man it's only 8 bucks. Just remember once the back has been opened water proof can not be guaranteed anymore.

Why does my Wave Ceptor WVA-105H work sporadically after getting wet?

Try a new battery. When water got in there it may have shorted the battery and drained it. It may work for a short time and then die. Also put the watch on you car dashboard in the sun to bake it instead of the oven unless you have an electric oven. For electric oven use a thermometer to get temp of 140 F then turn the oven off and put the watch in for an hour.

Need to replace battery in my Colibri pendant watch. Can't figure out how to open case to change it.

Thank you for contacting FixYa.
  • Place the tip of your pocket knife in the slot on the back of the watch. Pry the back off.

  • Take your tweezers and grasp the metal piece that is hiding the battery.

  • Once that metal piece is out the battery should come out too.

  • Put the new battery in and cover it with the metal piece.

  • Put the back of the watch back on and snap it into place.

  • Best wishes. Jewel

How do I replace a battery on a kenneth cole watch and square fossil watch

Open watch case back, then release the metal contact covering the battery. Memorize battery's polarity (+ up and - down), then take the battery out. Memorize the combination of letters and numbers on battery (should be something like: CR 3216 or similar). Make does not matter - Seiko is as good as Maxell, Panasonic2_bing.gif and other reputable makes. Buy new battery with identical combination of letters and numbers and put in your watch. Replace back contact, gasket and case back. Set your watch and enjoy. Rate me, please.

What to do with watch repair kit

Unless the watch back has notches on it, you want to look around the edge of the watch and find a little lip. When you find the lipp, use one of the knives and pry open the back. Take one of the tweezers and pull out the battery, you could also use one of those handy-dandy screwdrivers to pry out the battery. Put the new battery in laying exactly like the old one , then proceed to close the back, making sure that the little notch (on the INSIDE lip of the back case) lines up with the stem and crown (the part used for setting the watch) so not to break it. The back openers and the knives are just differant ways to opn the back of the watch. Sometimes watches have screws on the back that need to be taken off in order to open the back case. The case vise is to minumize the wear and tear on your hands. The tweezers are for taking out the battery. If you have anymore questions PLEASE feel free to contact me I will be glad to assist you further! Good Luck!!!
