Remove all the 13 screws from the bottom. Remove the Battery and 3 more screws from the battery bay. There's another one in the corner under the Fan cover and you'll find two more when you pull out the CD-ROM Drive. Total: 19.

Now turn the whole thing around and extract the keyboard. It is snapped into 4 tiny "claws" at the spacebar side. Positions: below the Fn-key, below the middle between the ALT-key and it's neighbour to the right, below the ALT-GR key and below the cursor-down key. If you can't see them you can feel them either with your finger nails or with a knife. Push them towards yourself, i. e. towards the front side of the laptop, and carefully lift the keyboard either with your finger nails or a knife. Remove the metal shield and unlock the wedge connectors to release the flat cables of touchpad and keyboard and take the keyboard aside.

Now close the cover and unsnap the hinge covers from the rear side. Don't lift, just unsnap. Then open the Cover wide and lift the hinge covers carefully from rear to front. Use a knife if the center area won't unsnap voluntarily. Watch out for the frontside hooks, as they break off easily.

Release the 2 display connectors and the hinges (2 rear and 2 top screws) and remove the cover. Now we have only about 12 screws left to remove.

IMPORTANT:
Put all screws next to their original locations and make photos or a drawing. A long screw in the wrong place can go right through your mobo!!! If in doubt always use the SHORTEST screw that will fit.

Replace all the 1500µF capacitors that show the even slightest swellings on top. Use Ultra Low ESR type caps, like Rubycon MBZ.

Any more questions?

Good Luck!

I have a G320 laptop with 512 SO-DIMM DDR400 and 1 GhZ procesor ,OS WIN XP, how can I run my G320 faster

Hi,
There is nothing much that can be done to speed up the system as it can not go beyond 1GHz Processing speed, but several operating system tweaks and some hardware upgrade could make a little but notable difference.
As for Hardware, you may increase the RAM. You can upgrade memory on ECS Elitegroup Computer G320 upto a maximum of 1.0 GB (The ECS Elitegroup Computer G320 takes the PC2100 DDR SDRAM SODIMMs Memory)
Secondly, You may increase the size of PAGE FILE, uninstall unwanted software, Remove unwanted start-up items, Clean Junk Files/ Temporary files, De-fragment the Hard Disk to achieve the maximum speed and performance that EliteGroup G320 PC can give.

Hope it helps! Good Luck! Thanks for using Fixya!

How do reset my elite group laptop to a factory settings

Insert the recovery disk. Restart the computer, and press the "F11" key.
Press the "F" key to "reinstall factory settings." If your computer's operating system is damaged, you may only see "perform a full system recovery" as an option. In this case, press "R."
Insert any disks if prompted by the restoration program. Otherwise, permit the computer to restart as needed.

Laptop wont power up

Hi,

The problem could be either the motherboard, ac adapter or battery. Try removing the battery and use only the ac adapter and see if it does the same thing, but if not. It means the battery is causing that problem. But if yes, the problem will be the motherboard.

Hope this helps

WHAT KEY OR KEYS GETS YOU INTO THE ELITEGROUP G320 BIOS. THANKS

Most laptops either use the [F2] or [Del] key to access the BIOS. If not, it could be either [Esc], [F1] or [F12]. You might also try [Ctrl]+Key, [Alt]+Key or [Shift]+Key combinations if the previous keys don't work.

Make sure you don't get past the initial POST screen when trying the keys.

My laptop won't power on (EliteGroup G320 PC Notebook)

Sounds like the infamous electrolytic capacitor plague (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Capacitor_plague -- also read the discussion page)

In the early years of this century chinese spys stole a formula for novel electrolyte from a leading Japanese chemical company but unfortunately they only copied page 1 of the two-page recipe. The incomplete electrolyte went into many millions of capacitors reducing their life span dramatically. I understand these capacitors were made until 2004. That's about the time the G320 was manufactured, at least mine.

I opened and disassembled everything, I saw some "swollen" 1500uF/6.3V capacitors, replaced them and the G320 would start again.

This may sound easier than it was, however. I live in a country where computers aren't made no more and spare parts are hard to find. The G320 has 4 of the above caps in upright position and 4 placed horizontally. I could only get some larger types that do fit horizontally but not vertically. Thus I had to replace a bad vertical one by one of the remaining good horizontal ones and then replace the horizontal ones by the bigger ones.

Warning!
If you re-assemble your G320 make sure you use the shortest 3 screws for the the points where the upper cover is fastened to the metal sheet frame that presses the cpu against the heat sink. If you use a longer screw (which I did) you may experience that a destroyed 4x56 ohms resistor network chip on the mainboard can also be hard to be relaced in non computer producing countries.

Good luck!
