your video card and/or drivers are probably bad - this is not good if you don't have a warranty or service contract for the laptop. It's possible it could be heat related - I would make sure the unit is cleaned and dusted off and provide for ventilation to dissipate heat buildup. Heat is a system killer, especially video cards.
I was having the same problem in lenovo s10 3s , but I took it to service station and found that the internal cable which connects the screen to base was loose. You too take it to service station because no power issues and os problem is to do with screen flikr.
Hi Kevin, My daughter has the same problem with her laptop, do you find that when you move the screen slowly back and forth it either stops or gets worse ? You will need to take your laptop in to an HP dealer and let them have a look at it. Regards :)
I see that you are having issue with your taskbar flickering as you mentioned in the notes.
I would be more than glad to assist you regarding your concern.
>Try to reinstall your Video Drivers on the machine or poassibly update the Video drivers.
>Try chagning the resoltion on your system try setting it to a resolution that is lower than what you actually have and see if the flickering will still be occuring.
>Also try to boot into the BIOS of the machine to see if the Flickering occurs in BIOS as well, to boot into BIOS upon powering the machine keep on tapping F1 till you get a blue screen saying phoenix BIOS as long as the word BIOS is there you are in the right page. just check if the flickering happens there, if it does then the issue is not software but most likely hardware it can be the LCD itself or the Cable conenction of the LCD to the Video on the motherboard.
>if the flickering is present in BIOS most likely you will need to have the system serviced for proper repairs and diagnostics.
Sounds like a problem with the video adapter chip. The chip might be either defective or experiencing bad connection with the motherboard. In order to fix this problem, you will need to disassemble the notebook, pull out the motherboard & inspect the video chip & its connection points to the motherboard. If the video chip is defective, you might have to replace the motherboard.
