Help. bought the tv new a few years ago. it has done well except for the lamp replacement which is normal for these. 2 months ago we had red blotches on evryones skin tone and a local "quality electronics" came out as a representative for sears. they ordered and replaced the light engine and that took care of the red problems with the skin tones but now we have a problem with things that are white or light colored objects such as paper someone is holding or even skin tone in someone that is being filmed and have a light focused on them. it makes that object extremely bright no matter how you set your contrast ,brightness or any adjustment. i went thru the loops again and they came out after telling over the phone that is adjustable thru the remote. they were in the house for a total of 3 minutes and did nothing but ran the contrast from top to bottom and said that it meets factory specs and blasted out the door. has anyone ran into a similar problem and what was the resolve? I will be contacting sears and ask for a different service company. thanks for your time
That is the V26 chassis dlp. Which has been plauged with bad capacitors. I have serviced many mitsubishi DLPs and have found that there are 4 1000uf @16v capacitors on the FMT board that can give the video some problems they are C8F21, C8F22, C8F19, and C8F27. These chassis are a real bear to work on. I would recomend a service center that is authorized by mitsubishi do any repairs on that model. Mitsubishi has a list of authorized service centers on their website that you can look up by zipcode. If you need more help please let me know. I am very famillar with that chassis
i actually own this tv myself... that striking you here will only occur when the lamp does not fire. as far as lamp life i have found that mitsubishi has the longest lasting bulbs from my experience. i would check to make sure the connector on the lamp is seated properly into the other connector in the tv. if you know your lamp is 100% i would look at replacing the lamp ballast. ive had this tv for a few yrs now and love it.
