GoVideo Go Video DVD/VCR Combo Logo
Anonymous Posted on Apr 27, 2010

Dear Technician, I have 4 components that I am trying to connect together, a Panasonic HDTV model #TC-L32X1, a GO Video DVD/VCR model #DV2130, a Yamaha stereo receiver model#RX-690, and a Scientific Atlanta HD cable box model#Explorer 4250HDC. Currently, all of the components are connected, but I can't get a video signal through the monitor when trying to play a DVD or VHS. I can only use the receiver when I want to play the 4 aux. speakers connected to this unit, and audio DVDs. It there a diagram that I can find on-line, or can be sent to me via email that would show me the correct way to connect these 4 components? Very much appreciated in advance.

    Dear Benimur,
    I have followed your instructions, although they are not as clear as I expected. I still can't get the video portion of either VHS, or DVDs to play through the monitor. I am not sure where I am making a mistake or incorrect connection. Your help on this would be most appreciated.

    P.S. I sent an inquiry yesterday that has still not been answered.

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Unfortunately, size limitation of what could be attached prevents posting a connection diagram. Still, proposed connection scheme:

  • 4250HDC's HDMI to Panasonic's HDMI 1 or 2;
  • 4250HDC's VIDEO OUT to GoVideo's LINE IN 1 VIDEO;
  • 4250HDC's AUDIO OUT to 2 pcs of RCA Splitters (shown below);
  • 1 pair from the 2 splitters to GoVideo's LINE IN 1 R-AUDIO-L;
  • the other pair to Yamaha's LD/TV L & R;
  • GoVideo's LINE OUT VIDEO to Panasonic's VIDEO IN 1 VIDEO;
  • GoVideo's LINE OUT R-AUDIO-L to 2 more RCA Splitters;
  • 1 pair from the 2 splitters to Panasonic's VIDEO IN 1 L-AUDIO-R;
  • the other pair to Yamaha's VCR 1 IN L & R;
  • to watch cable TV in HD quality, set Panasonic to HDMI 1 or 2 by pressing Panasonic remote's INPUT button, then 3 (or 4), then OK;
  • to hear cable TV programs on Yamaha's speakers, set Yamaha to LD/TV;
  • to watch DVD or VHS, set Panasonic to Video 1 by pressing Panasonic remote's INPUT button, then 6, then OK;
  • to hear DVD or VHS on Yamaha's speakers, set Yamaha to VCR 1;
  • to record cable TV programs, press GoVideo remote's TV VIEW button a couple of times to cycle through the signal sources or until Line 1 is displayed.

The use of the splitter shown below would effectively double the AUDIO OUT of the cable box and the DVD/VCR combo to feed both the TV and the stereo. Additionally, this would allow use of the cable box and/or the DVD/VCR combo with or without the Yamaha.

    Two suggestions:

        check / replace the yellow, red & white RCA cables from the GoVideo;

        do a reset on the GoVideo:

        eject any disc from the GoVideo;

        power it off and then back on;

        press and hold the FF and REW buttons on the front panel for seconds;

        power it off and then back on.

How do I get my LCD monitor to display my computer correctly

This happens when you're trying to run the laptop screen and the TV at the same time. It's caused because the laptop screen and the TV are different resolutions. Very few laptops can run two different screen resolutions at the same time.

The TC-L32X1 supports a fixed range of resolutions. These are listed on page 24 of the user manual http://shop.panasonic.com/shop/model/TC-L32X1?t=manuals&support#tabs The resolutions are [4:3] 640x480 and 1024x768, and [16:9] 800x480, 1280x768, 1366x768. I would recommend either 1366 x 768 or 1280x768.

What you do next is set the laptop so that it runs the TV only. It's slightly different between brands, but they all use a combination of the "Fn" key and maybe F4, or F5 or F8 or one of the function keys that has the monitor symbol. Press the Fn and the appropriate function key at the same time. The displays will cycle: laptop only -> laptop + TV -> TV only -> laptop only.

Once just the TV is getting a picture, you can use the laptop's graphics tab to change the resolution if the laptop hasn't already done this for you. This does vary depending on the operating system and the video card software. Try right clicking on the background image on the desktop and see if there's a short cut to the Graphics Properties.

Hope this helps

hi,
ur ps3's HDMI out is a full hd video (1080p). if u r tv does not support full hd this problem can occur. do one thing. connect the ps3 to any full hd tv and go to its video setup, then down scale its video resolution to 1080i. after that connect the ps3 to ur tv. u will surely get video.
