Our hatachi ultra vision tv 52" screen got zapped when the transformer blew in our neighborhood yesterday and we have replacement cost but i need to find out how to show the proof of what we paid for it

the main chip in the TV that controls all these options (sound - sharpness etc...) you will need to bring this TV into a repair shop - the transformer that blew up caused a voltage surge that fried this chip

Resolder the connections on the high voltage transformer. There are 3 fuses mounted to the right of this transformer. They look like 3 brown boxes. Replace the center one if its open. ABOUT 1/2 AMP pc mount fuse pico fuse will do. Common failur eon this tv.

just buy a new one, its not worth it.

Your conversion IC's are out, they cost about 40 dollars for 2, if you know how to solder, you can change them yourself, otherwise, repair shops usually charge 4 or 5 hundred

I HAD THE SAME ISSUE. I WAS LUCKY, MY TV WAS UNDER WARRANTY. THEY SENT IT TO BE FIXED. THEY REPLACED 2 CONNECTORS FROM THE PROJECTOR AND THE ON/OFF BUTTON. THE WIRES WERE NOT TRANSMITTING THE SIGNAL/ OR A SHORT IN IT. THEY REPLACE THEM ALSO. IT WOULD TAKE MY TV ABOUT 2 MINUTES TO TURN ON. THE COLORS WERE OFF. AND I HAD DOUBLE OR TRIPLE VISION. THEY ALSO REPLACE A FUSE IN THE PROJECTOR PART OF THE TV. THE FUSE ITS SELF COST ABOUT 275.00 WITH OUT LABOR. I DIDN'T PAY A THING I WAS ONE WEEK SHY OF MY WARRANTY TO BE OVER. I have the same tv and just had mine repaired for the same problem just got it back yesterday turned out to be the fl231 fuse blown and the flyback transformer solder points have rings in them. It cost me $211.00 to get it fixed and they said it's common problem and most repair shops should have the part in stock and fix it in a couple of days.

can you post a picture of it? It sounds like youre talking about a box capacitor.

The tv may a SAP circuit fault (Second Audio Program). This circuit can mess up and cause some channels which are carrying SAP to put out the wrong language. I've seen this happen a few times. AN IC may have gotten zapped when the transformer blew. Possibly the microprocessor IC. Stargazer

I hope is only a fuse and it will not be hard to find it should be close to where the power cord goes in and it has to be replaced with the same amps and size.Make sure the set is not plug in whe you remove the lower back and once you replace it put the back cover on and plug it in,if more damage is present it will blow up again right away or it will blow up when you push the power button,I hope it doesn't but if it does you will need someone qualified to check the rest.Be careful
