Look on the case. You'll see a button that slides. It takes it off of HOLD. HOLD mode is good to protect the recordings while the unit gets put in a pocket or purse.
As you say there is no on/off button on the unit. The display is on at all times. If you look at the instructions under the heading "3 Set the time", there is a tip that states this. Here's a link to the instructions:
As there is no USB port on this IC Recorder, you can connect the Headphone OUT of the IC Recorder to the LINE IN of the Computer. Then, use any Sound Recorder Software to capture the files. You can also use the Sound Recorder Software preinstalled in the Computer.
After transferring the recordings to the Computer, you can use any CD Burning Software to burn the files to a CD.
Thank you for your response. I did finally solve the issue. I basically rebooted the device (removed the batteries). I had to reset the date and time though. The recordings remained intact. Thanks again
An adapter will not fix the problem. The files cannot be transferred to a computer using a USB port. The files must be transferred analog using the recorder's headphone cord. The files are then recorded to the computer from the Sony recorder using a program such as Windows Recorder. The ICD-B500 has many great features but archiving to a computer is not one of them.
