L.S. How to reset Panasonic DMR-EH55 DVD Recorder / HDD Recorder to factory settings?

You can either go into menu (pressing 'FUNCTIONS' button on remote) and look for 'RESTORE DEFAULT SETTINGS' or similar heading, or you can (while unit is on) on the front of the unit (not the remote) press CH UP and CH DOWN buttons together for 5 seconds - the unit will switch to standby. Give either one a try. (refer to page 60 onwards in your user manual - these pages detail 'settings').

If you cannot find your manual, it is available for download (free) - http://www2.panasonic.com/consumer-electronics/support/Video/DVD-Recorders-Players/DVD-Recorders/Operating-Instructions/model.DMR-EH55S.O#ts

I hope this helps in some small way. Thanks for asking FixYa!

Lanier P165 recorder instruction manual

The Lanier P-165 has a slide switch on the side for master power off / on. Also the battery contacts get flattened over time, a letter opener can help you get these sprung back out to make contact with the battery. Anything more than that consider it toast, serious professional tape units havnt been made in 4 years now. Its all digital now.
