Cannot connect It says 'Acquring network address' and won't connect

  • Anonymous May 11, 2010

Are you saying the router is acquiring network address or your "computer"when you connect to the router? I ask you this because it could be the DCHP server on the router (the ones who gives the "network address" or the modem which gives the network address to the actual router. Can you be more specific?

Sapido firmware problem

Connect to it with a ethernet cable and try again. Since you reset the device it won't have your wireless network configured. Since you are no longer connecting to it via wireless, you are getting the 169... address. Once you connect to it with the ethernet cable you should get an address from the device. Then go to http://192.168.1.1 and user the user name admin and password admin. You should be able to reconfigure your wireless network from there. http://www.sapido.com.tw/EN/faqrb1632.htm

Printer is installed for wireless with network. constantly goes offline and requires re-installation.

The issue is with your router. Without knowing anything else about your network equipment I can tell you the following.

The lease on the network address for the printer keeps expiring or another machine on your home network keeps taking the address while the printer is still leasing it.

The solution is to access your router's configuration page and basically reserve a network address for the printer.

That way when the lease for the printer's address is up, the router will just re-assign that address to it. Your computers also won't need to re-install the printer either because it will always have that network address.

As for another machine taking the address, you'll want to make sure that all the computers that connect to your network are set to dynamic (DHCP) network addressing. That should keep your printer online for a good while.

I have a Linksys WRT320N wireless router connecting my PC and 3 netbooks. 3 netbooks stuck "acquiring network address" after establishing wi-fi protected set up for my BlackBerry Torch. How do I...

If your 3 notebooks were already configured with router and then you used WPS to connect your blackberry, then it must have changed the wireless settings of the router, due to which the router and the 3 notebooks are not able to communicate now and due to that, the notebooks are showing acquring network address as they are not able to get an IP address of the router.

Solution: You need to open the interface of the router and check the new wireless settings and then put those wireless settings into your 3 notebooks. You may use this link for detailed instructions, or you may also chat with the technician available for chat on that website. Check or Change WirelessPassword

Cant connect to the netgear N600 router, keeps me at the acquring network address screen. what do i do!?!?!? I do not know what setting to change in the router to let this computer go through. This...

First thing you can do is a ipconfig /release /renew
to do that, go to:

Start>All Programs>Accessories>Command Prompt.
Once thats open, type in ipconfig /release
note, there should be a space between ipconfig and /release and renew
your ip address should come up with 0.0.0.0

Now type in ipconfig /renew
remember a space between ipconfig and /renew
You should see an ip address of 192.168.XXX.XXX or 10.10.XXX.XXX something like that, depending on your network settings.
if you do, you should be able to get on the internet.

If you see an address of 169.254.XXX.XXX
Then it would be best if you powered off the Modem and the Router.

First turn off the Router, Next the Modem.
Power back on in reverse order and see if it is able to connect then.

If all that fails, You can reset the router and see if it will connect then.
You should have a reset button on the back of the router.
Remember once the router is reset, you'll have to redo the security settings.

Hope this helps!

Acquiring network address

all that you need to do is to delete the preferred networks list from the computer,
and try to scan and connect to the network again....make sure that you are typing the correct security key.
still if the problem exixts, then add the network manually...the problem will get off for sure....
also if there is any facility like wi-fi protected security is enabled in the wireless router, go ahead and disable it...
