BIOS update on MSI KT6 Delta (MS-6590 v2 5.0)

Typically updating the bios will not make the pc faster, but hopefully make it more stable and support newer memory and CPU´s.
Check the Task manager to se witch programs use CPU power and memory with CTRL+SHIFT+ESC. I find that making sure the harddrive is up to date model, is the most import!
Try using MSINFO32.exe to see what programs starts in the background when the PC starts. A description on how to us the program is here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/308549

Ram need to be installed in pairs. Windows XP only recognizes a max of 4GB ram 3.5 usable. Windows Vista 32bit only recognizes a max of 4GB ram as well as Windows 7 32bit. Vista/7 64bit can recognise a much larger amount of ram. Find out if your operating system is 32 or 64 bit and make sure you are using the right kind of ram for your system.

Do you have an IDE hard drive fitted as well.
If so remove it as I have found out that unless setup properly IDE and SATA do not mix
