Sony Vaio ac adapter submerged

My bedroom flooded last week, the ac adapter for my laptop was on the floor and got wet (the laptop never got wet). I'm pretty sure the power was on so when it lost power thru the power cord the battery went dead. Now when I plug it up the green light comes on on the adapter, but the computer will not power on. Is my computer fried or will replacing the ac adapter fix my problem?

If the ac adapter was plugged into the laptop at the time may be bad news. Unplug AC adapter, take out the battery and hold power button for 10 seconds. Then connect AC adapter and hit power. If that doesn't work put battery back in without ac adapter and hit power button.

If neither test works bring to repair center for diagnosis. Best case AC adapter would need replacing. Worst case Motherboard fried.

Thanks

Battery/Ac adapter issues for Sony VAIO Model

So I gather the laptop does not run when the battery is in and the AC adapter is not connected? Laptop batteries tend to ware down over time and will need to be replaced as they end up not being able to hold any charge. Look online for a new replacement of the battery under the model number of your laptop

Sony vaio not charging while charger plugged in

Seemingly your laptop dc jack is dead. How to confirm it? If you should wiggle your laptop charger on a position to let your laptop charge, it indicates your dc jack is loose. Either replace it or repair it. If your dc jack works well, please check your ac adapter. Maybe your charger is dead.

Try A Hard Reset

Remove the battery and charger/ac adapter/power cord from your Sony Vaio laptop, press and hold the power button for 20 seconds to discharge any residual current inside the laptop.

This clears your RAM and is like a hardware reset.

Replace the battery and charger/ac adapter/power cord
and turn your laptop on.

If that does't work try removing ram and reinstall. Sometime this works with these laptops.

  • the problem could be the ac adaptor itself, the dc in port of the computer or maybe the motherboard.

Would any 16volt ac adapter be ok to charge my PCG-VX89 vaio notebook?

you can use any laptop AC adapter DC output-16V and 4A (current). if its jack size natch your laptop DC jack.
if the adapter DC current less than 4A (over 2.5A at least) you should only make the battery charging without laptop turn on!!!
please take a rating let me know how much helped you thanks!
