Sony Receiver STR-D550Z

I have a Sony Receiver (STR-D550Z) that started producing static on the right channels a couple of years ago. We replaced it right away but I've held onto it thinking some day I would look into fixing it or seeing about having it repaired.

The static is heared on all inputs and both the A and B sets of speakers. Not sure what other troubleshooting should be done. I know it would be very expensive to have repaired or even looked at but would it be worth my while to purchase the service manual?

I would open it up and look for large capacitors that have a bulged top, I've fixed several receivers that were buzzing or had static by replacing a couple of cheap capacitors that had blown.

How do I adjust the treble and bass on sony str-dh520?

See EQ Mode on page 59 of the owners manual to set the bass and treble for the front speakers, presumably for 2 channel mode. For multi-channel mode there are several pre-programmed audio modes listed starting on page 43 and music mode starting on page 44.

Sony STR DE835 receiver - no sound from speakers and headphone jack

The problem is in the audio output semiconductors, they have shorted causing the fuses to blow and it is in auto protect mode to prevent further damage. I recommend a professional to assess.

If you have checked the speakers and wiring, the right channel has a audio driver or output problem, which explains the low volume, static, and distortion. A service technician will be required to fix the receiver so it will balance the left side.

Most likely it's due to bad solder for the Blue Relays. It can be fixed by re-soldering.

Sony STR-DE945 5.1 Channels Receiver

Hi, Happened across this forum looking for some remote info. Had a similar problem with my 945...main speaker outputs started to click off & on, no rhyme or reason. Found that the solder joints on the speaker output relays were cold (poor soldering). Actually happend twice, two different relays. Took me a while to find it, reflowed the solder, that solved the problem, over two years ago now. Are you able to dig into the receiver? Do you have a (good) soldering iron and some solder? If not take it to elec. shop and tell them to look for cold joints on the relays.
