I downloaded the 64 and 32 bit driver for the CX7800 (for Windows Vista) and still no luck. I contacted Epson and a level 2 technician and I worked for 2 hours to see what the problem may be... no luck. The last time I utilized the scan was at Christmas and it was fine. I hooked up the all in one 7800 to another computer and it worked. No new software has been installed so I can't trace it back to that. The error message is " EPSON scan cannot be started.". Help!

We will need to ensure the scanner is being recognized correctly. Have you had any other scanners installed on the computer previously?
We would suggest checking the DEVICE MANAGER for any conflicts.
Get to the Device Manager by:
1. Right-Click on COMPUTER or click start then right click COMPUTER
2. Left-click on PROPERTIES.
3. Select DEVICE MANAGER from the list.
In the Device Manager please check for the following:
1. Any yellow or red X's, question marks or exclamation marks related to the scanner.
2. Under the Category of Imaging Devices - Check for Epson Product name.
If IMAGING DEVICES is listed, test the scanner from PAINT. If IMAGING DEVICES is not listed then the scanner is not being recognized. We would recommend trying another USB port or cable.
To scan in Paint:
1. Click on START > ALL PROGRAMS > ACCESSORIES > PAINT.
2. Click on FILE then select FROM SCANNER OR CAMERA.
3. Choose COLOR PICTURE.
4. Scan.
Let us know if this works.
If it does not work:
It is possible your Windows Image Acquisition (WIA) service is not started.

3. We are looking for the Services and applications icon; please double click on that icon to open the next menu.

6. We want to select the STOP option with your mouse button.
7. Next we want to select the START option with your Left mouse button to restore the service.
Now try scanning again. Please report back with all testing results if the situation persists.
