T.v. will not turn on. flahes "lamp" then no picture!

Samsung HL-R6167W

when we try to turn our tv on the green lamp light flashes. we can tell the lamp is on because the screen appears to light up, but just stays black. it will flash for about 45 sec.-1 min. then go off,but the screen will just stay black or sometimes the lamp goes off and the red standby/temp light will come on and stay on.

My TV is doing the same thing. Did you ever find out what the problem was. I noticed that the fan just above the cable card slot that plugs into the analog card was not running. I checked another fan that was working on the same plug in, and it also failed to start. Could the problem be with the analog board?

Same exact symptoms with my HL-R5067W set...

I have the same problem. My Samsung HL-R4667W shut down fine Thursday night then on Friday morning it started and booted up to the TVguide start page...pressed enter as always...then it went blank with no sound...I assumed my daugther had changed the source playing with the remote but then noticed that when ever I pressed a button the Timer LED would flash and then realized it wouldn't even shut down from the remore....A bit more playing with the remote and then the Standby/Temp light came on solid. Assuming it needed to by rebooted or something I went to unplug the TB and noticed there is light coming from the back of the TV so it seems like the Lamp is working.
    1) unpluging and restarting on Friday did the same thing but I didn't even get to the TVguide or any sound
    2) Saturday I plug the TV back in and it started up fine for about 2 minutes then the picture went all rough on the edges, TV became unresposive to remote (Timer LED flashing with each button pushed), picture when black and standby/TEMP LED came on solid...unplugged it again!
    3) Sunday pluged the TV back in and still the Standby/TEMP LED is on solid all the time... But for giggles I tried the Factory start up (Mute, 1, 8, 2, Power) and it started up fine. Checked the lamp life and it came in at 5667hrs. TV played fine for an hour and shut down fine but after the fan turned off (standard 1-2 minutes cooling time) the stupid Standby/TEMP LED is on solid...unplugged the power, then plugged back in and still Standby/TEMP LED is on solid. But for now the TV seems to work

    Previous Issue:
    1) Color wheel exploded and I replaced it without incident.

    Question:

    1) Right now I'm planning to replace the lamp since the hours are getting up there but I have a horrible feeling that the fact that the Standby/TEMP LED is on solid is a bad sign suggesting some other problem since the standard indicator for a bad lamp is "All three LEDs flashing LAMP, TIMER, STANDBY/TEMP"

    2) I'll Try and update this post after the Lamp is replaced to see if it fixes the problem

This will have to be narrowed down to a specific problem. I would try the easiest things first. First check the lamp. Is it bad or just starting to go bad or does it just need to be reseated with the ballast? If the ballast flickers when turning on your TV, then you will know it is the lamp that is not working or the ballast may need to be replaced. If that is not the problem next check to see if the color wheel is spinning or broken. If broken, it will need to be replaced. If not spinning it is the DMD board that is bad. The color wheel is plugged into the DMD board. If the DMD board is good it will spin the color wheel, that is what will start your lamp. When you lamp starts, you have your picture.

I have a picture but the tv will periodically turn itself off during the day and then flash the 3 blinking lights...anyone know what the problem could be. We can fix it ourselves if we knew for sure what it is.

TV makes humming noise, lamp light is blinking, does not turn on

Your color wheel needs to be changed. Mine just did the same thing. I changed mine, and the buzzing sound went away, however now my picture washes out with light or yellow colors. The darks look green and purple also.

My tv turns off

Power issues (Tv True True (``````````` (``````````` 0 95250 95250 clip_image002.gif not turning on) were typically due to faulty ballast. While the TV reports a bad lamp it is the ballast itself causing the issue. Samsung True True (``````````` (``````````` 0 95250 95250 clip_image002.gif is well aware and will replace both the ballast and the lamp (since the lamp can be prematurely aged but the bad ballast). After replacment most people stop having issues.
