After leaving the tv on for quite some time the picture will come in clear but until then there is only sound. some friends have recommended changing the projection bulb. i'm at a loss.
You cant get CRT's any more. Sounds like the capacitors in the power supply are week and are takign time to charge thats why it takes a while to get a picture.

A high pitch sound can be a capacitor losing power it would sound a bit like a fire work. most have back up on the board but it put more pressure on them the more times you use the tv. would check them and replace. all of them can be 5 in a row in some models.
The set uses a Hyper board inside that processes all signals, it is well known for this issue, board no longer available=reason is quite simple : about a dozen tiny surface mounted filter caps on that board with age dry out, at first it will work after warms up as poor caps regain some capacitance and seem to be ok.
Buy a new set, you can send that board out and have it repaired/rebuilt but the last one I saw which was under extended warranty cost about 200 just for the board rebuild.
In the last 4 years Here on Fixya I have encountered only 2 people who were able with instructions had the skill to remove the board and replace those caps, both were top notch computer repair techs.

Remove front bottom panel behind it is a small black control box top controls are focus controls for R/G/B and Bottom 3 controls are your screen drives adjust one at a time turn off G/B adjust red first,then Do Green and Blue fter adjusting focu to each tube leave them set then adjust screen drive turn color off adjust RGB for a Black and white picture get as close as you can then turn color back If after doing this you still have blurry looking picture look down into Tubes you should be able to see picture clearly in each one if you cannot see picture then projection Fluid need to be changed out. well tuners are being made smaller (and there is more cold solder in some points due to heat) so i would look up a new tuner for that tv...and if you know how to solder ,do it yourself it will be cheaper
