Thanks for using FixYa. From what you have described it seems that you might have a backlight and/or an inverter board issue with this TV set. It could also be due to the inverter circuits for the backlights. The inverter is the power supply source for the backlights. There could also be a screen driver problem; if it is then you have to change the entire inverter board. All this is only recommended if you have some kind of expertise for checking the internal circuitry of the TV as these units have high voltages running even when the set is switched off. The cost to change the inverter board including labor would be around $250, if you get this done by a professional.
