The cartridge arm does not go back to the off position.

At the album end the needle stops short and skips back a quarter inch in repetition, never turns off automatically. The model is sl-q200 thanks, rob n.

It's a "manual" turntable so this is normal. You would need to buy an "automatic" turntable to have the arm return back when done.

Marantz 530 skips after playing only 30 seconds the tone arm won't progress. It consistently stops (skips) regardless of whatever album at the same place

Make sure that the wires leading from the tone arm are not binding. And you might also want to check for bearing friction in the tone arm. Under light stylus pressure conditions, low friction is mandatory.

Crosley CR6019A turntable skips

Hi
Being a portable model, it is very easy not to have the turntable level. It is very important that it is level as a tilt can lead to the head "skipping", amongst other things.

Another possible problem is that the balance has become upset by being moved around. The correct balance is achieved b the positioning of a weight on the tone arm on the opposite end to the needle. This can usually be moved short distances to balance the tone arm so that the needle is held in the record groove, by the minimum necessary weight on the needle.
Hope this is helpful, if so would you please register that with Fixya

I have a technic sl 1200 mk2 , my anti skate is

I gather you don't know how to adjust the tonearm. First put the stylus pressure, and antiskating to zero. Balance the tonearm for a free floating position. Ortofon cartridges will list the stylus pressure, generally 1.5 grams. Dial in the correct pressure, and set the antiskating to the same as the stylus pressure. Tonearm skips imediately to center of album

Your stylus is damaged or worn. Or some one may have spun the balancing weight at the rear of the tonearm. Reset the weight so that it will drop when two postage stamps are lain upon the stylus end of the arm.

Turntable swingarm skips to last song

Most likely your stylus (needle) is bent, broken or missing. Check to see if it's there or not. If it's broken or damaged, you will need to replace it. Under the cartridge, you should see a small arm that has the actual diamond on the end of it. If the arm is there, but the diamond is missing off the end, the arm won't stay in the groove and will instead skip across the record to the middle.

Tone Arm skips past first song

Hello, A. Do not try to close the case when there is a record inside!! The fact that the turntable cannot do this is not a design flaw--you'll be hard pressed to find a portable turntable that can close with a record inside because if you were to pick up the player with one inside, it could easily slip off of the spindle and scratch against the sides of the player.
B. Are you using the cueing lever to lift the tone arm before you place it on the record? Read the instructions to see where the cuing lever is (it's a little switch on the right side of the tone arm). When you lift it, the tone arm will lift up and allow you to position it wherever you want on a record, then you depress the lever to make the tone arm touch the record and being playing.
I hope that helps!

The record player skips

Hi There,
From your description it sounds like there is insufficient weight on the needle end of the pick up arm.

The pickup arm is very delicate in its balance at the "rear arm end" fulcrum.

This weight is adjustable to allow the needle to press on the music track to an exact pressure and it is adjustable so that this pressure does not damage the music track.

There should be a wheel type thingy at the rear end of the pickup arm.

This wheel is usually marked in Grams, and to make the needle end heavier to stop "skipping' you turn the wheel to wards the + sign.
This + sign means more weight on the needle.

There also should be a - sign, and the wheel, when turned in that direction, the weight on the needle is reduced.
You need to be aware that a needle really needs to exist in the cartridge as they can be broken off very easily and if there is no needle present there, then there is no way you will get any music from the turntable.

So check there really is a needle there...use a magnifying glass to see....

If thats OK then place the needle end of the pickup arm on to the record surface and turn the weight wheel until the needle just lifts from the record surtface.
Now that this stage has been received turn the weight wheel in the reverse direction by around 5-7 grams in the heavy + direction.

The needle should now be resting on the records surface and not lifting at all.

It should play like this,,,BUT please ensure the record player is on a perfectly flat surface the
needle wont work on any incline at all...

If you turn the amp on in the phono switch position and carefully hold the needle over the record and touch the needle with your finger you should get a scratchy sound from the speakers.....

This is a basic test to ensure the amplifier and all the wiring is in place and doing its job..
Im Sorry you had a run around from the repair company but some of them are not interested in repair work any more they just want to sell new hardware...
It pays to ask if they are Pepared to repair stuff for you , then get a commitment of a reasonable repair date and time in writing.

If this date and time is exceeded then you dont have to pay for the repairs do you??
As they have missed the service level agreement you had with them for the reapir date and time..

Hope this helps

Fisher price 1978 record player

The Fisher Price record player has a device that prevented kids from pressing the needle down and sctratching the record. If you look at the cartridge where the needle is inserted, you will see that it floats up and down. The problem is that this keeps the needle from having enough pressure to play the record. Pennies just make the cartridge recede further into the arm. If you wedge something above the cartridge, the needle won't float and the it will play your records. I've had four of these and none of them worked until I figured this out.
