Can't see any dry joints nor sign of overheating parts (by touch). I'm hoping someone has had a similar experience and can help. I have no diagrams . Plse help. much appreciated...Kind regards Marcie57

Check the horizontal output transistor for short. if so then check main regulator ICs for short and white .1ohm resistor for open. also check horizontal transformer for cracked solder as this is the cause for failure

  • Anonymous Mar 31, 2008

if you look at the deflection board from the bottom side. the regs and resistor are on the left side of board on other side a large transformer. they ar e3 legged devices. the resistor is acting like a fuse and can be easily seen from the top side. check all components and see where you get. remember to check the horizontal transformer for cracks, should be near C4927 i think that it is a 6 pin trans that is where the fail started.

No Display, no sound- not working, showing dead. But input Power is ok. Picture tube filamment not getting power. model sony KV-2192M3

Hello
Check the input fuse first. If it is blown, there will be some short inside the power regulator circuit. Usually Sony sets uses STR regulated power supply. You can see this STR, and Ic, screwed onto a heatsink. Replace it with a same type and number. Before replacing the STR, check the diodes used in that section for damage, mainlu zener diodes. They might get shorted along the blowing of the STR. Check that section throughly before resoldering the new STR.

Sony KV-T29

You may still need to check more components

Since your wake up LEDs are Active ( working ) this means your stand by 5 voltage is working.

Since your Standby 5 Voltage appears to be working but you still do not have a fully working set
you may need to check your High Voltage Components.

This TV worked very will until the past two weeks when it refused to start up

Any sound? If so, it could be a bad display or high-voltage or associated problem.

No sound and no picture could be a bad line cord, power switch, blown fuse or AC problem.

In this case, make sure it is plugged into the ac outlet and the ac outlet is getting power by plugging in a lamp that is known to work into the outlet. If it does not light, then ther is no ac power at the outlet and you have a bad fuse or tripped circuit breaker (most likely) or (less likely) a faulty outlet or break in the house wiring.

Good luck! :)

Solder any / all bad connects, esp.horiz drive to base of horiz.
