I have a seagate Freeagent Go 500gb and suddenly it is not recognized by my laptop.

Try with another PC, If still not recognising, then You have to open the Casing of your external drive. If you have any Warrenty remaining for this Drive, then let company people fix this. if no warrenty then Remove the HDD from the casing, Connect HDD to the PC with another External casing, and backup your Data. If no ditection with this method, then your HDD is Dead. Keep finger crossed best of luck

Seagat 500GB Portable GO external HDD not recognised on PC

first of all you should try it on deferent pc , if its ok then that leads us to insufficient power provided through usb ports , try using back usb ports not the ON-front, and if the problem still try using dual-usb cable like thishttp://www.cooldrives.com/usb-power-cable-mini-b.html and if the external hdd doesn't work at all it might be the usb controller board inside the hdd cage needs to be changed if you cant find a similar one you may buy a new empty cage

Could not recognize and no spin

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but from the sound of it you can't. At least not cheaply. The drive must be rebuilt to save the data. Your only option is to bring the drive to a HDD Recovery service for a Clean Lab Recovery. Expect to spend 600-1000.

Sorry Again :-(

Help!

You have not yet formatted the drive to work with you MAC. You will need to use your MAC's Disk Utility to format the drive in order to write to the drive, but be aware that formatting will erase everything already on the external drive, so back up anything on the drive you want to keep first.
