Once you download the firmware, you will need to open the router set up and upgrade the firmware of the router.

Hi ,

I got your issue, Since your router keeps dropping the connection , the best fix is to update the firmware on the router. Here is the link,

http://en-us-support.belkin.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/306/session/L3NpZC9DRXppQW1maw%3D%3D/kw/f5d8236/r_id/166/sno/1

You have 4 different firmware version, select the appropriate version for Eg: If your version number of the router is ver:3000 then download v 3xxx and update the firmware on the router , that it will fix your issue.

With Regards,
Prema.

Wired connection randomly drops

Since the wireless works fine on your router, then it is possible that there is a problem either on your ethernet cable or on the port of the belkin router.
Try a different ethernet cable. (Ethernet cable is the one that is connected from your computer to the router.) If you don't have a spare cable, you can directly connect the computer to the modem, just to isolate the issue and determine if it is the cable or the computer itself.
If you have determined that the cable is working fine, then try a different port on the router.
I hope this helps!

My Belin Router won't connect to my desk top computer when I turn my computer on. I have to unplug my Belkin Router and wait awhile and then plub it in again. Sometimes I have to unplug the route 3-5 times...

You can simply update the firmware of the router if it keeps dropping your internet connection. Download the latest firmware from Belkin website and install it. Now the trick is you need to hard reset the router before and after you update the firmware. To hard reset it, press and hold the reset button at the back of the router for 30 seconds. After that unplug the power. Wait for another 30 seconds before you plug it back in.

Belkin n wireless router dropouts on mac and pc

Check for a firmware update and, if that doesn't work, call Belkin and discuss a possible warranty replacement.

I have had nothing but problems with their equipment and do not recommend it.

Drops the internet connection and has to be rebooted at least once a day.

Try to reduce the MTU of the router. If you're on DSL, set the MTU size to 1492, for Cable connection size is 1400 or 1463. You can do it on the router's admin page http://192.168.1.1

Belkin Pre-N Router Is Repeatedly Dropping Connection

Also, I noticed dropped wireless connection constantly. After researching Belkin and other websites, I was told to set the wireless channel to a set channel like 1  instead of the preset of Auto. Everything worked better. It is best to research what channels your neighbors are using and set your wireless channel about two channels away from your neighbors' network. For example 6, is youreighbors' network, I would either set my network to 4 or 8 to prevent interference. Sometimes I file-share extremely and lose the wireless connectivity, I recommend just unplug the router for 30 seconds and power it back on. Good Luck. I hope this helps. I love this router for 3+ years since 2006.Waiting for wireless n standard to be ratified, but this Belkin pre-n router will do for now.

Connection dropping

If the lights are flashing - that's OK. Wireless light will flash because the connections and beacon transmission, port lights will flash because of local connections. We can troubleshoot this for a while but I think this might be a problem with the box. Probably the best option is to replace it. In case you would like to play, try to run Ethereal and capture the packets and analyse them.
