The first thing I'd recommend for a 60 year old watch is to have a watchmaker clean and oil it. Over the years the oil gets thick and gummy and slows down the watch as you're experiencing. Once it's properly cleaned and oiled the watchmaker will test and adjust it to ensure that it keeps good time. This is not a DIY job but one for a trained watchmaker with the proper tools, lubricants and experience.

Can you hand-wind a Lord Elgin 760 to start it?

Most automatic watches can be hand wound. The simplest answer is to wear it for a couple of days despite it not running. The everyday motion of your wrist should wind the watch as the mechanism was designed to do. Another method is to grip the watch with the face against the palm of your hand and twist your grip like your turning a door handle. Do this quickly for 30 seconds to a minute and it should give you enough to start the watch.
If this doesn't work another solution to try is to push the Crown, (the button you use to correct the time), all the way IN and turn it Clockwise 30 full rotations. This should give you enough to get it going.
Your last option is to invest in a "Watch Winder". This is basically a 'Posh' watch box that constantly rotates the watch when your not wearing it to maintain the winding load. Some of these can be reasonably cheap to buy but it is worth buying a decent quality one.

The stem out of my elgin wrist watch, where do I take it for repairs

You have a vintage watch, Elgin ceased production in the '60s
Inquire in your town who are the most competent watchmakers, and ask them if they can do it

Tag Heuer watch losing time

Make sure the voltage on the new battery is correct. Just because a battery is new does not mean it is good. That is likely the problem.

My watch loses 2-3 minutes a day even with a new battery. Is there an adjustment I can do?

No unfortunately there is not! you have gone as far as you can go by changing the battery. The problem lies in the timing module that houses the quartz crystal, it vibrates at a certain frequency that is critical for keeping time. This will require a jeweler who specializes in this type of repair to address the situation.

Helloi have an Elgin watch I am trying to sale I am not trying to get lowballed on the price..if you could help me out and tell me how much it is worth the info is b.w. Raymond Elgin 571 u-s-a V531181 8...

mcdevito75 here, Elgin, a fine, fine watch, If the name on the dial says Lady Elgin it could be worth more, but the fact it"s an Elgin counts alot also. Older Elgins are also worth more as they are collectables, Let"s say your Elgin is 20 years old and in fine . fine shape, no scratches, tarnishing and is keeping great time it"s worth could be $100.00 -- $150.00 Of course this depends on many factors as mentioned. If your Elgin is say only 5--10 years ols it"s value in my opinion is approx.$75.00 -- $100.00 Bset Bet, visit a few jewelers in your area, many will give a free apraisel on the value of your Elgin.

Watch goes slow when wearing it but keeps time when not wearing it Because I started having a problem with an old reliable Acqua quartz analog watch running slow,  I replaced it with a new Timex quartz...

There is nothing wrong with your watch. Probably it's the one measuring heart rate and pulse (heart beats per second).
Use your users manual to set the watch.
By the way: Timex is one of the worst watch producers.
