Tascam us-122 hi, i have the tascam us-122 i've used it for recording guitars, bass, etc........but recently have urchased the yamaha drum pro dd-55c diital drum set which you have to run to your tascam via midi input. when i connect it (midi out from drum and midi in to tascam) it doesn't even register as making sounds or anything. I have it set to where all the midi inputs will recognize (all midi inputs) but still nothing any help would be appreciated.

Hey I actually have a Tascam US-144 and a Yamaha DTXplorer electric drum set. I was actually told to hook up my drum set to the audio input (where you would hook up a guitar). For some reason I have the same problem. I can't get it to recognize a sound on my computer. However, I plug headphones into the Tascam and I can hear what I am playing on my drum set. I had a lexicon alpha that did the same thing as well.

Recording audio through Tascam US122 MKII onto Cubase, I get sudden blips in the recording. I have checked all levels etc. The noise continues intermittently when I'm not recording also. I don't...

Try unplugging your ethernet cable and disabling your anti virus program. I was running Sonar Producer Edition and it kept dropping out until I disabled my AV then it all started working like it was supposed to. Shut off any other programs you know that detect adware\malware\spyware as these can cause the same type issue.

Hope this helps.

Using a Tascam US 122 with Cubase SX, when recording vocals red light (clipping) on the Tascam and in the Cubase mixer, I need to know how to set levels on Tascam, so there will be no clipping on vocal...

Make sure the switch is set to "mic/line" and not "guitar"
Your input level will be set by the "input L" or "input R" knob, depending on which side you are using. Start with them all the way down and then sing into the mic, turning them up until you get a signal about halfway up the bar in Cubase. That should give you plenty of headroom for clean vocals.
It may be difficult to get a good sound if you have one of those cheap mics that has a "1/4" jack instead of a 3-pin XLR jack. You might want to go to your local music/pro audio store and invest in a "condenser" microphone, which is good for vocals in the studio.

I've just got a tascam dp01cf recorder and i'm having trouble with it, its abit hard to understand what to plugs in were, i'm using a electric guitar,a yamaha magicstomp effect pedal and a amp. also i'm...

Hi,

You have a couple of options with your guitar input. You can either plug your guitar directly into the right (Hi-Z) input and use the Tascam's onboard effects with it instead of your effect pedal.

You can put your pedal in the chain between your guitar and the (Hi-Z) input. So guitar into pedal is, pedal out into Tascam Hi-z in. (Still doesn't use the amp).

Or my preferred method for recording guitar would be to mic the amp. In that case you'd just input a microphone (placed about 8-12 inches from your amp) and record your guitar that way. The mic would be plugged into either one of the Tascams two mic inputs to record the amps speaker output while your guitar, pedal and amp would just be hooked up in the normal way.

Please note: Never plug the output from an amp into any of the Tascams inputs. Those inputs are line-level and the speaker output level which comes out of an amp out would damage your Tascam.

To get a backing song into a track in your Tascam, you'll have to first, using a PC, get the song into a 16 bit mono Wav file format. Then you'll have to use the USB import function to copy that wav file onto your Tascam onto the CF media cards fat partition. From the you'll be able to import it into the Tascam choosing which track it will import into.

Cheers,

BD

Drum track

From your description it sounds like you recorded the midi drum patterns to a track first and then playback from that track is giving you problems. If this is the case it sounds a lot like a bug that existed in the firmware prior to release 1.02 where edits could cause gaps on tracks. You can check your firmware version on bootup and if you don't have version 1.02 installed you can get the firware and instrustion on how to upgrade it here:

Burn CDs from Tascam US-122L

The answer is yes, but it may not work as simply as you think. You can't just save your Cubase file / mix and then send it to your recorder. You'll want to render down the song you have to one stereo .wav file and send that to burner as a wav file. (That's the quick way). Another option is to render each file you have seperately so acoustic guitar, bass, vocal, etc are all seperate tracks. So the answer is yes, a .wav file is the format for audio cds. You'll record your seperate tracks and then you'll have to mix down, render, or export them when you are done. In Cubase, use "export".
