I have sony vgn-fs840/w laptop every time I turn it on it keeps rebooting again again.
Hi sunnyh, when you start up the PC start pressing the F8 key every 2 seconds. A dos like window will load. At the bottom of the list choose, last known good configuration. (win might load the last good configuration) it's worth the try.
If your PC still does not load windows than repeat the above, this time choose, Disable automatic restart on system failure.
This also might allow windows to load (hopefully).
A system that starts going into this restart loop happens for many different reasons. Most common reason was a program that was last installed just before PC was restarted. Second most common reason for restart loop. Added new hardware, bios changes & windows boot files corrupted. If you did install a program, uninstall it. If you were in your bios & made changes, reset the bios. If you flashed the bios, go back to the old bios version. If you added new hardware replace with older hardware.
To fix Windows you may have to reinstall it. Do not run format or you will loose all your data. Even system restore CD's allow for a win reinstall without a format, however if the cd does not allow you to reinstall win unless you do a format. Than windows startup files are too screwed up & you'll have no choice but to format.
All you can do is try the above & cross your fingers.
Good luck!
Mike
