I have an epson cx7400 and have been using refillable ARC cartridges for 1 year now,but suddenly it stopped recognizing the cyan cartridge. I bought a new generic cyan cartridge but the printer still wont recogniz it.
All the other 3 cartridges are ok....
Any idea what to do?
is there any way to continue printing without the cyan....like disable something?
Printer manufacturers do not want folks to use cartridges that have been refilled and they deliberately design their printers to not work with refills. If you get a generic refill you have to make sure that they have taken measures to counteract what Epson has programmed into their printers.
Chalk up the experience to GREED - they want you to use their grossly over priced inks - that is where they make their money! Check in Google for work a rounds this nonsense.

I just started calling Epson's customer service line every time. They always offered to FEDEX new ink. I got tired of waiting for it to come and began returning bad cartridges to office depot where I had bought it and found out that they will take it back if it doesn't work. Now I've decided that some (a lot) of Epson's ink cartridges for the RX580 are bad and that I just have to keep trying until I get ink cartridges that work. I had tried the qtip cleaning, checking the ink/sensor connection, and making sure I had them snapped in tight. I've finally figured out it IS the ink. BTW, I always use the ink Epson reccomends, so it is definately that many of their cartridges are faulty. It's a pain to have to return them but as long as I can return and replace them and eventually have a machine that will print when I need it to, I can live with that.

may be the generic cartridge that you are trying to use is faulty...try with a better one

You need to open up the maintenance window and go thru the motions that you are changing the cartridges and this resets the ink levels back to full and sends data to the printer saying that they are full and the ink light disappears and it prints fine !!!
Just changing them doesn't seem to do the trick like on a lot of printers
