Help please. Hi I have the above VCR and all works great apart from tonight it started having trouble on rewind and fast forward when I put and old tape in it. when pressing the FF OR RW fast it sounds like something is slipping real bad and making a terrible grinding whirring noise then shuts off. I put my normal HQ SVHS tapes back in but it is still doing it. If I press the play button then fast forward it goes ok in search mode both ways no prob (just takes ages to rewind though) only when it dissengages from the head drum in fast rewind or forward mode it starts off ok then as the reals start to spin it slips and make the horrible noise. I cant go without my VCR I have a large collection of tapes so any help would be great. I have basic electronic servicing skills but am not great on the mechanical side of VCR'S.

Fault Solved, I removed complete transport mechanism, there was found to be a small black spring clip laying loose on the main PCB. This had broken off underneath on a very small white plastic sliding arm lug, this plastic lug was broken and hanging off which made spring clip fall off. Repaired the plastic lug with Araldite rapide and re-attached spring clip. Reassembled and Tested all OK . Thanks to atelia mj for you input.Fault Solved, I removed complete transport mechanism, there was found to be a small black spring clip laying loose on the main PCB. Check the cassette door sensor: Make sure that the cassette door sensor is clean and free of debris. If the sensor is dirty or blocked, it may not be able to properly detect the presence of a cassette in the VCR.
Try unplugging the VCR: Unplug the VCR from the power source, wait for a few minutes, then plug it back in. This may reset the cassette detection mechanism and allow you to open the cassette door.
Try using the manual release: Some VCRs have a manual release mechanism that allows you to manually open the cassette door. Check the user manual or the VCR itself for instructions on how to use the manual release.
If none of the above steps work, it's likely that there is a problem with the cassette detection mechanism or the cassette door sensor. It's recommended to contact a professional technician for repair.
It's worth noting that the problem might be caused by a malfunctioning mechanism or parts, that may need to be replaced and it's best to be addressed by a professional technician.
Hi
I do not know of any vcr that will do this. The timer can be set to record on each day of the week but will not rewind when the tape comes to the end there may be some cctv videos that might do this sorry I donot know Make or Mod No

ADCON4035:: Whenever I had the problem with the "noisy spindles", I just find an old movie, damaged tape, etc but with a good [chassie] body. sometimes the spindles have too much leayway and flip-flop around. It may take more then one 'body' change, but it stops the noise when you find the right size.
You may have an idler gear wheel which has been damaged- perhaps broken/worn gear teeth or something afoul in it's drive mechanisms. Check this idler which sits down in between the supply and take-up spindles. You should be able to see this with no tape loaded.
This idler should also move freely from supply to takeup- if it is sticky in movement this could be the problem.
If your idler is broken, you may be able to replace it. Check with a service center- or a parts supplier. MCM electronics is one such supplier- there are others.
Does the machine play tapes well? Clear steady picture and all? No tracking bars? wavering sound?
Tape chewing is generally a problem with a bad Capstan Pinch Roller, Associated symptoms are as above.
Please do recheck or confirm if any of the above problems are also present.
It may need to be cleaned. Mechanical problems are one of the big problems with VCRs they use alot of mechanical moving parts and play for so long they fail. Plastic parts dont help much either. The pinch roller takes up the slack and is usualy the part that fails first because it constantly runs along the tape and builds a coating on the rubber so it doesnt grip the tape and pull it back into the cassette. If its not pulling the tape back in then it hangs up inside and you cant get the tape out. Fastforward uses the reels to pull the tape not so much the roller.
Try and stop 2 times then fast forward then eject the tape. Try and eject the tape while its fastforwarding so it doesnt do anything else.
Sometimes machines will unload after its been in fastforwad a while then it will eject. You will hear a change in the sound when it unloads, you can hear the mechanical arms move the tape in and out of the cassette. Thats when you eject it. You cant really clean it till you get the tape out.
YOu can clean the pinch roller with fingernail polish or paint remover. It is a wheel inside it looks like a black tire. It pinches the tape against the capstan arm this is why it developes a film or a shine on the rubber making it slip.
