Chances are really good that you need to replace the speaker relay for that side. I recommend replacing all speaker relays. The contacts are dirty. You can get parts from Sony. You will need the relay part number off the top of the relay to order from Digikey or similar parts places. You can try cleaning the relay contacts with a contact cleaner. Sometimes it works.

Speaker Imedance Matching - Sony STR DE 997 receiver with 120Watts - 8 ohms output with Benz 6 ohms..Tower Speakers

hi pawanh75,

thanks in advance for a very informative setup that you have.

Here are some of possible mods , only if you like and can DIY

( or have someone to help you )

• Using a 6 ohms impedance for an 8 ohm impedance amp clearly

denotes that it heats up the output stages.

(please forgive my very technical words)

• One way to lessen the heat is to install a blower .

Use a 220V blower on top of the receiver.

( air should be in going up direction ).

• Before I proceed further please indicate if having the speaker

connected and having a zero volume , and just letting the receiver

in an "On" state deliverately produce heat on the receiver, or just

when the volume is at medium to high level.

If it s running hot at zero level with speaker , please post.

If it is running hot even without speaker, post also

• It may also helps , if you have a powered subwoofer ( for the low's),

and set settings on your receiver to "small"

Let me know what you find to help you further.

Str-gx800es sony receiver problem- right channel speaker sound is 'static', low and distorted. I have checked checked all speaker and output/input source cable connections with no luck. All left channel...

If you have checked the speakers and wiring, the right channel has a audio driver or output problem, which explains the low volume, static, and distortion. A service technician will be required to fix the receiver so it will balance the left side.

I HAVE A SONY RECIEVER STR-DH700, I get no sound

make sure the FM antenna is connected and in a good place then check to see if the A-B speaker selector is selected properly.check to see that the sound field is set properly, My 800 allows for several different options and if your speaker wires are reversed or not in the correct position front left at front left etc it will not send the signal to those speakers. try using the TEST TONE feature if you have one it will send a signal to each speaker in sequence (LF< C< RF<in order) it will go all the way around to see if they are connected properly, that way you can tell if they are connected at all or in the wrong spot on the back interface. I dont know if that is what you meant by AUTO CAL, but that is a seperate feature when you use the connected mic to determine range, height and distance to the position in the room you are most likely to be seated for optimal sound.

My Sony STR-DG500 wont turn on just clicks once and nothing.

Sounds like faulty psu (pwer suply unit) Amp is going into protection mode. Disconnected all speaker and av wires (only power) turn up volume and see if it stays on. If not psu, sounboard or volume function faulty. If on, connect one speaker L or R. Go to tuner mode to tuned radio station an listen for sounds. If on, connect speakers and av cables one by one and test each one on its own until amp switches off, Investigate from there were problem is. Make sure speakerwires is not shorting out.

Low volume on left channel of Sony STR-GX4ES

The headphone is tapped before the final stage of the amp, so knowing that those work properly helps to isolate the problem. I think that this model uses an IC for the voltage amp section prior to the final amp stage. That being said, the IC is probably an UPC2598 (if memory serves). I'll confirm tonight. Try resoldering any connections that appear to be grainy or have rings. Let me know what you find.
