Kenmore Upright Freezer Model 253.9239780 Temp alarm, Temp rising slowly

Been getting the temp alarm for about 2 weeks now. Temp has risen from -5 to currently 20 even though compressor is running. No new food added, door has been closed. Freezer located in garage, temp in garage is 45. Checked lower back of Freezer for obstructions, etc. but none found. If I push the temp alarm button, alarm goes silent, red light continues to flash. Several hours later, alarm sounds again. Nothing inside freezer is blicking the door from closing properly. Freezer is 16 years old approximately. Turned temp setting down several times but temp doesn't seem to drop even though compressor is running... I've fixed several other appliances with minor problems but have very limited diagnostic tools to fix a freezer.

The alarm on my freezer goes off every 12 hours. I reset the alarm, it goes off again 12 hours later. I reset the temperature, it still goes off 12 hours later.

You have a refrigeration issue partner let her go 16 yrs. is good service you can replace it for 3 to 5 hundred the repair will be that IF you can find someone with the r-12. don't go for a top it off and go deal the food you lose is to expensive for that to be economical.

I can't turn my Kenmore upright freezer on.

Try disconnecting power for about 30 seconds, and then restore power. This will reboot the control and maybe restart.

New upright kenmore freezer temp varies +/- 10 degrees

Over what period of time did this variation occur?

The freezer should have an automatic defrost cycle. The temperature will rise while it is going through this cycle.

Won't freeze

Is the compressor running the whole time? If so may have a problem with a refridgerant leak....check the compressor in the rear of unit, feel if its hot....may be as simple as a relay.

FREEZER ALARM WILL NOT SHUT OFF

Use a freezer thermometer and tell me the actual temperature. Or at least store some ice cream and see if it stays brick hard. Unless I have some idea of the actual temp I can't tell if defective freezer or alarm
