I'm just guessing here, but, most XD readers take the card in the upside down position (contacts upwards).

Windows 7 for downloading

Do you mean the Windows 95 OS or Windows 7? If you have Windows 95B (with USB support), get a USB card reader. You may need to add a USB card to your computer. (Look carefully at the manufacturer's site for the drivers, fewer companies are providing drivers for the older OS versions (before XP).) Windows 95a doesn't support USB at all. You would need a new OS. This is not guaranteed to work. If you upgrade Win95a to Win98, issues may still exist with the USB card reader. Remove the card from the camera and plug into the xD slot on the card reader. If the card reader works, you can use a version of Photoshop or any image viewer since your photos are JPEGs.

If you mean Windows 7, your computer might have an memory card reader. Check for an xD card slot. Otherwise, get a card reader (USB or internal that uses a 3.5" drive bay and connects to an available USB motherboard connector if you have one). Here is a source for several USB card readers: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/category/category_slc.asp?MfrId=0&CatId=2833 . Remove the card from the camera and insert it into the computer's xD slot. Then use the Windows Photo Viewer or any other image viewing or editing program to look at the pictures.

Open the card as you would any flash drive or optical disc. Go to Computer (My Computer) and access the card reader "drive", open folders to find the Olympus one. Drag and drop pictures to your hard drive or double-click to launch in the program linked to the JPEG file type.

Windows 8 will behave like Windows 7 with the card reader (for most readers).

I hope this helps.

Downloading picuters directly from your digital camera SD or XD card.

You can purchase a Targus card reader from Walmart which will plug into a USB connector on your computer. Directions on it's usage are included with the card reader. The package says it is compatible with SDHC SD/MMC, XD, Memory Stick, Pro Duo, and Magic Gate.I ran into a problem with the Targus TGR-CRD25 when trying to read an XD or SD memory card 1GB or bigger. Targus fixed it with a note on their web site: To operate plug card reader into
the USB port, go into "My Computer", click "Removeable disk drive", insert your memory card into the card slot and upload your data. Please remove your memory card before disconnecting the card reader.

I assumed the front slot in my toshiba L450-13U is a card reader / why cant i insert my xD card?

Hi, please check if the card reader is all in one card reader. Because some of the card reader is not all in one, posible thing it can't support the xd card.

Another option you can buy external USB card reader. (all in one)

Nothing happens when I insert XD card into pc

That's because there is either a defective card slot or the driver for the card slot is defective or not installed at all

Was this card slot (XD card slot) working before?

If it was, then you must reinstall the memory card drivers.

If after the driver reinstallation does not solve this issue, then you may have a broken memory card reader and needs to be replaced.

Or you can go around the problem by geting a separate card reader for Xd cards.

I hope this helps you :)

Acer aspire 7004 flash card slot

Your computer doesn't support compact flash cards. Your SD slot is a 5-in-1 card reader, supporting Secure Digital (SD), MultiMediaCard (MMC), Memory Stick® (MS), Memory Stick PRO? (MS PRO), xD-Picture Card? (xD). The big slot is for PCMCIA devices.
