I have a question, We bought our Hatchi 50 inch tv 3 years ago
And we paid for the new bulb then and now what do we do?Does Hatchi stand behind our warranty?I can give them the time we bought it and it shoulde be on record with our name etc.
Re: I have a question, We bought our Hatchi 50 inch tv 3...
The manufacturer normally doesn't count the lamp for the warranty, but call them definitely worth checking w/ the manufacturer. Otherwise if you need to buy a lamp you can try Discount-Merchant.com they have FREE trouble shooting available so you can check to make sure it is the lamp.

Take the lamp out and examine it. Are there any blackened markes that look like arcing marks? If there are then the lamp may be faulty and that could be caused by the ballast but in my experience of working with Sany and Philips lamps, the ballast units generally fail without causing lamp problems. I should go for a new lamp. Hope that helps.
I had the same problem. I bought my tv at Best Buy and my warranty included a new bulb for the lamp. They only last about 2 yrs or so depending on how much you watch the tv. You can also buy replacement bulbs online that don't cost too much. BUT, you will need to replace every couple of years. The things you listed are exactly what happens when the bulb goes out. Hope this helps!
no solution, same sounding problem though. last year we were getting lines through the screen and flickering and then the bulb burned out. had it replaced, 2 months later it did it again (they wouldn't stand behind the bulb so we had to buy a whole new one) this time had the bulb and ballast replaced because the repair guy said usually you have to replace both (why didn't they replace them both in the first place?) .. a year later and it's doing it again.. we get the flickering of the screen going on and off and horizontal lines that flicker across it. after turning the TV off and on a few times it seems to go away (or after it warms up)
i know know if i should order another bulb and ballast and spend the money for it to happen again or if it could be something else
I have just bought a second hand Sony 50 inch Projection & the owner from new (paid 1200 Quid) assures me he has never replaced the bulb in 6 years. Don't pay 190 Pounds plus, if you can loosen 2 nuts you can get an Osram bulb alone (not mounted) for 32 Pounds 55 Dollars delivered if you search well on E Bay
