first : if your laptop freeze try to check the cpu pan if it is working if working second: remove your battery then try to reboot again and remove your screen saver and set your laptop power setting and put it to portable/laptop....
Third: repormat your laptop for the best result and make that past sometimes viruses make your laptop freeze or hang

My lenovo laptop ran out of power as i was using it off AC, subsequently tried to power it on after connecting the AC cable but would not come on at all.The battery symbol flashes in red colour for a while and that is it.

Same problem

The issue is, the motherboard is faulty. You will need a systems engineer to look at it. Some chips are burnt and should be replaced. The only other alternative is to replace the entire motherboard.

Lenovo 3000 C200 shuts off spontaneously

Others have reported that a battery going south (even one that still holds a charge) can cause some heat sensor to go into the red zone and shut the machine down. You can test this by pulling your battery and running your v100 exclusively on A/C--does this resolve the problem?

I discovered on my v100 that running the latest version of AVG (8.5) causes my hard drive to warm up enough to set off a heat sensor, shutting the machine down. I have to run the virus scan at the "slow" setting to avoid this problem.

Problem

As the cd has power its most likely not a power issue,

If the laptop posts (power on self test) and you see stuff on the screen, no matter how short ,do the following:
  • if you have a bootable anti virus disc use it to check for any viruses , if not
  • try a recovery disc,
  • both will try to access the hard drive.
  • if they do not work,(nothing has changed)nothing comes on the screen.
laptop does not post:
  • remove the screw(s) holding the cover plate where the ram lives
  • remove the memory sticks, clean the gold edges with a pencil eraser both sides and re-insert them, (not an ink eraser as it will do damage)
  • swap them around if you have more than one,
  • if you only have one, borrow one from a friend or try the ram in your friends laptop ,if that's possible, or take the ram to your local pc shop and ask them to check it for you (they may or may not do that for you)
  • if you can establish that the ram is ok, and anti virus and recovery disc's do not work, then it is most likely, the motherboard has failed .
good luck with that and let me know how you get on.
