After a short power outage, TV will not tuen on. Does it need to reset? I had a power outage about 2 months, the same thing happened. After about a week of the TV not being on, I tried one more time turn it back on and it did. Will this happen again? Why did this happen?
The voltage change may have affected your t.v transformer. Get it replaced. It is a small and cheap device. When having one from the market, go for the best one, or else the new one too may go out soon.
This may happen again if you are not cautious. Unplug the t.v every time after use and don't let it work when there is voltage fluctuations or lightning.

Pull the plug and with the power disconnected hold the power button on for 60 seconds. After at least the 60 seconds plug the tv in and try to start it. If it works great if not , hold the power button in the on position for a count of 20 with the tv plugged in . If theres still no Joy try power with one of your volume buttons at the same time . One of these should provide a hard reset for the tv.
Possible that the program controller unit has failed if there is no display or power in the indication. You will need to remove panel to check on the fuse and if the new fuse fails it is possible there are error or hardware failure within the board. Please remove and check the power panel for shorted drive, rectifier or capacitor, if not the panel must be replaced.
Hello, Thank You for using FixYa. I will be helping you today. After looking at the wiring diagram for this unit it looks like the only thing that can be happening is the relay on the control/clock is fused closed thus energizing the heating element. Bad thing is this part is about $360.

i have encounter many of these issues with TVs going bad after a power outage which i something that can be complex. Actually almost all the TVs go through this issue sometimes in their life time.
What happens is that TVs have a circuit that controls the on/off phase; the circuit has resistors, diodes and capacitors to do the job. When there is a power surge, which is what happens when the power come back on, a diode, resistor or capacitor goes bad. Capacitors are the main ones that fail under a power surge/outage because they have a set of value assigned to them. The worst that can happens also is that a power transistor can go bad. The unit controls or regulate the power going in to the set.
So, if your TV does not turn on, turns but goes dean right after, or has the standby light flickering; you would need to have it check by a technician. On the other hand, you might want to check if its not just a reprogramming that the set needs.
Tries unplug, replug an hour later, let the tv reset itself back to factory setting. After, turn on the tv,go to the menu,go to sound on ur menu go down to reset the sound. The functions should go back to normal, not than.Ur tv Tuner signal board have a short,in the power outage occurance.
it will be one of these on the power board these will blow if they get over loaded and short out the power line in turn tripping the electric.
this will be on the mains side of the power board. can be one of these types in the photo. but it can also men something else has blown on the 5 volt side of the board.
