Hi there,

The password is for the parental control feature.
For the Poaroid dra-01601a the password is 3-3-0-8 type this in using the number pad then press ok. If you press setup on the remote then press down till you get to ATV/DTV then press right arrow button to highlight DTV Parental control, press enter then a dialogue box will appear this is where you can input the password code. Select V Chip and press ok, you will then have the option to select which content controls to use in the menu you will see Block enable, use the down arrow to highlight this then press the right and left buttons to turn either on or off. to exit this setup press 6.

Hope this helps,

James

Polaroid dra-01601a hdd to dvd recording

You will have to split the title and record on more than one DVD. The default speed is SP, that is 2 hours of recording. If you want to record longer programs, go into setup and change the default record speed to one of the other settings, for example: SP+ which is 2 1/2 hours or one of the other longer record settings. This DVD burner will only record at the same speed as you recorded to the hard drive. You can also edit out the commercials by using segment. Go to the title you want, press the right arrow, scroll down and select segment. When you want to start your edit, press enter. when you want to stop the edit, press enter again. You can use your right arrow to skip forward 30 seconds and your left arrow to skip back 10 seconds if you went too far when editing. You will see where your edits are on the screen by the darker color. Do this through the whole program. When you record to DVD, the commercials will not be recorded. Hope this helps you.

Transferring from timeshift buffer to hdd

When in timeshift, press record on the remote (every time you push "record" 30 minutes are added) and make sure the program you are recording is not macro protected. If your program has already finished rewind to the beginning of the program and push record the correct number of times to cover your program and then press stop on the remote. It should then be at the bottom of your hard drive list.

I have a Polaroid DRA-01601A DVD Recorder (w/160gb hd). I am getting a video output on my tv as a black and white split screen. Can you help?

The picture output may be set for other than 480i. Try to connect the composite output, and you may get enough picture to change the setup to 480i.

Polaroid DRA-01601A will not power up

99.9 % of the times its the capacitor which is blown. I had spent few weeks to investigate on this and ultimately found this solution. Till date I have replace two capacitors. To determine which capacitor is gone, Check on the flat silver surface of capacitor. If its not 100% flat it means its gone and you need replacement. Pl. check my attached file to understand on details of inside configuration.

Hopefully it works for you.

I am not able to upload pdf which I have created. Pl. contact me via email to get pdf file

Polaroid Will NOT edit out Commercials!

You need to post edit the recording;
First unprotect then do a split before the commercial
than split after, then recombine the parts without the ad.
Cumbersome, but it works
