I have a Nikon D90 and the viewfinder is black. You cannot view pics at all on it. Any suggestions?

You really mean the viewfinder in the hump on top and not the LCD on the back? Okay, I realize this is a no-brainer, but first check to make sure the lens cap isn't on. Then turn off the camera and remove the lens. Do you see a mirror at a 45-degree angle? Don't touch it, just look. Then put the lens back on.

If you actually meant the LCD on the back, first check to make sure the battery is charged. Does anything appear on the LCD panel on the top of the body? If so, what?

I am not able to take a snapshot through liveview of Nikkon D90? Tried all possible combinations but in vain. Any solution?

I don't know what you have tried but, the Live View button is just to the right of the LCD screen and just above the "OK" button. Pushing this button takes you into live view, it's not instant because of some of the internal functions the camera needs to do before displaying on the screen. Might take a second or two. By pressing the button again takes you back to "normal" viewfinder.

Setting auto focus mode for the Live View is accomplished in Custom Settings Menu a 7 I think.

Oh, don't forget to take the lens cap off cause all you'll see is a black screen

Someone asked me to take photos with my Nikon D90. I have the 18-105mm lens that I got with it. Is this able to take 'wide angle' photos?? I know there are special lenses made specifically for wide...

The 18-105mm lens at the 18mm end of the zoom range is a pretty fair wide-angle lens. Look through the viewfinder and turn the zoom ring (the big wide ring at the front of the lens) one way and then the other. The 105mm end is the view that looks like you're using binoculars, the 18mm end is the view that looks like you're using binoculars backward.

My D90 LCD screen is not showing images nor lighting up. It is black.

Have you removed your lens cap? Have you turned it off? Does the small viewfinder work? if so go to the menu,,, not sure on your model if it has a separate button to turn it on and off, look in your manual for EVF

My Nikon d90 monitor does not display when I turn it on.

By default the D90 is set to use the viewfinder for framing and taking pictures. If you wish to disable that and use the monitor, press the "LV" button on the back just above the multiselector.

D90 and Nikkor 17-55 problem. Lens won't come off

It's obviously in crooked. You will probably have to force it off but there is always the chance of damage.

My Nikon D60 monitor is dark...no image preview, however, playback for viewing pictures taken works fine. I use the viewfinder for taking pictures, but wonder if I've done something to turn off the monitor...

No, you have done nothing wrong. The D60 does not have the preview function on the monitor like the compact digital cameras. Nikon gave that function a name. It is called 'Live View'. The newr models like the D90 do have that feature. You can read further about your D60 here: www.digitalcamera-hq.com

Nikon D60 use of Display to take pictures rather than view finder

The Nikon D60 does not have "live view" capability, so you'll need to use the viewfinder to frame you shots. If you need "live view" capability, consider purchasing the D80 or D90 instead with offer the feature...
