Not freezing Discovered yesterday that my 2 year old freezer wasn't freezing anything anymore...everything thawed out...I'd think 2 years is a little young for problems...esp. since I have a 15 year old frigidaire chest freezer that works just fine...

Water freezing in bottom of freezer. freezer is 10 years old.

The defrost drain outlet is stopped up and freezing over.
Remove the bottom basket.
Turn the freezer off.
Look in the center of the freezer just below the cooling coils in the bottom of the freezer.
You will see a water drain trough.
It will be full of ice.
Use a hair dryer to thaw the ice and remove it.
The drain will become exposed.
It must be thawed also,so that you can pour water through it and the water goes all the way to the drain pan underneath.

Side byrefrigerator runs but not cold. Freezer is

take everything out of it, and let it thaw for 24 hours, using towels and whatever to clean up the water......then plug it back in, if it still does it, like 2 days later, it's broke, if it doesn't it was just the coil in the back that froze up. Happened to me.

Any possibility you can help troubleshoot a larger upright freezer? Our freezer is 3 years old. It sounds like it is working -- I can feel cold air and hear it humming, but as of yesterday it stopped...

Assuming the thermostat is set to call for cooling (sometimes they get bumped), check the condenser coils, fan, etc for debris build up and clean as needed.

Is the freezer frost free? If so, it's possible the defrost timer is stuck in defrost. There should either be a mechanical timer or it could be electronic these days. Check for bad connections or any obvious signs of damage (burn marks)

Make sure the freezer door closes tightly

Top mounted freezer on refrigerator not working

Move the refrigerator to a room that is at least 50 degrees F.

Temps on most refrigerators are regulated by the fresh foods temp. If your garage is let's say 35 degrees, the fresh foods temp will most likely never raise enough to turn the refrigerator on. With the refrigerator never running, the freezer compartment will warm to 35 degrees, resulting in everything melting. Even if garage is a bit warmer, say 45, the refrig will not run long enough for the freezer to maintain a low enough temperture. If the garage temp falls to below freezing, say 20 degrees, the food in the fresh foods compartment will freeze. (outdoor beverage dispensers have internal heaters to prevent product from freezing !) Please don't rate this if not a Fix-Ya for you, as anything else lowers my score.

Freezer/Refrigerator tempurature swinging wildly

The compressor is overheating and not starting. Could be just the start relay. If this happens again try unplugging it for about an hour then it should work for a while. Heat between doors is normal this is an electric heater designed to keep the doors from sweating. You just noticed it because the refrigerator wasn't cold.

GIBSON DEEP FREEZE IS RUNNING BUT EVERYTHING IS THAWING OUT

Might try unplugging for a few hours and then plug it back in. There is a possibility that it slugged the compressor and there is a restriction in the line. Sometimes when the compressor fails to stop running in cold air the liquid gets back to the compressor. It can cause a bit of gunk to be picked up out of the oil and carried to the expansion line and plug up the line. Maybe turning it off will let the plug fall free and not replug the line. Worth a try anyway.....
