Jammed scanner I get an error from my printer every time I've tried to restart it and attempt to scan. It sounds like the gears may be stuck on the track for the scanner? Any ideas?

Please make stand alone copy from your unit and verify whether the unit scan properly. If not please perform the steps provided in the following HP web link:

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c00860153&cc=uk&lc=en&dlc=en&product=3192753

If the issue persists, please replace your printer as this is a hardware issue with the scanning mechanism.

I saw the error "an error occurred during preview. if the scanner is being used. please wait for it to complete the task.and then click preview" when iam attempting to preview the scanned pictur how c

If you continue to get this kind of error after restarting the computer, you may need to update the scanner's device drivers or reinstall the included software. You should also make sure only one program or application is attempting to use the scanner by closing all but the one program you are trying use with the scanner. One last note - always either let the program you are scanning to operate the scanner or let the scanner invoke its default application by pressing the scan, fax or copy buttons on the scanner. Do not for instance try and scan an image into a running program that initiates the scanning process itself while also invoking a scan from the scanner's control panel. The two operations will conflict.

This printer has the rotating carousel assembly and therefore it is susceptible to becoming misaligned very easy and this could be the source of your scanner errors. More than likely of an inserting the wrong cartridge into the carousel...it can be fixed but judging by the age of this printer and the amount of labor to repair I would just junk this because of the time and labor involved ..plus there are definitely more productive and efficient models for a very low cost that will do you some justice.. that's just my opinion.

Hello, The scanner & photocopier were not working and the screen was just stuck on the "scanner bulb warming up". Then, after days of trouble shooting, it finally began making a noise,...

From what you described it sounds like you need to get the "scanner assembly" replaced.
The bulb is probably bad and won't come on to full power.
Not knowing what kind of printer you have, probably won't change the fix. If you can look at the event log you may be able to see an error code which could make it a definite scanner assembly replacement.
If you want to throw money at this unknown printer, get a tech to look at it and give you an estimate.

Scanner mechanism stuck, making loud clicking sound

I've just got this problem after a powercut, whilst it was not being used but on. If you have only had it a few months send it in warranty.
Think I will have to take this apart and see if the scanner cable/ribbon/drive belt is caught on something or been stretched too much and can be replaced at all.
Its like at one end its caught and wont move the scanning head being stuck somehow, caught on something (doubtful tho').

I have a epson artisan 800 I'm tring to fax from the automatic feeder but it keeps making a grinding sound and then it says paper jam but paper never even went through

I took apart my artison 800 with 'paper jam' error and grinding noise. Sadly enough, it is the plastic gear attached to the stepper motor which is slipping and making the grinding noise. I tried to glue it and it worked once or twice and failed again. It is a design flaw and Epson should repair this for free if they are honest about this problem. Ir is not a user-caused problem.

HP Officejet 6110 scanner carridge appears stuck

Unplug the power. Plug back in, while simultaneously holding hash (#) and (6) buttons, until S-reset is displayed (sometimes this can take like forever) but it is a documented HP mode.... Then set up machine using 1 key to confirm options and arrow keys to select options.

To enter another maintenance mode (fat lot of good that will do you), press and hold * and #, then press 1 and then 2 and then 3 (or 5) for a variety of different options, which include testing of the scan bed. This of course only works once the scan bed has initialised...

Or: take out all cartridges and close doors. Wait until it complains, or indicates a cartridge jam.

All-knowing.
