You need to replace ( or have it replaced ) , the thermostat . The piece the knob pushes onto . The liquid is seperated inside the thermostat cap tube , causing the internal contact not to close . Also , a tap on the knob , will start the refrig , until it reaches temp , but then may not restart until another tap . Replace it and that will solve the problem .

Once your refrigerator achieves the temperature set by you, it stops working and will start working only after some time when the temperature again increases. This is a power saving technique. Just keep the temperature knob undisturbed and observe your refrigerator. You will understand it then.

Do some gave the instruction manual for the Kelvinator FD830 Freezer. I am not sure how to set the temp on it?

Locate the Temperature Control Knob: The temperature control knob is typically located inside the freezer compartment. It allows you to adjust the temperature settings.

Understanding the Knob:
For Top Mount ™ Models: The temperature control knob is usually located in the refrigerator section. At higher altitudes (e.g., 1000 meters above sea level), set the refrigerator temperature control to one-half setting warmer than MID.

For Bottom Mount (BM) Models: Adjust the refrigerator temperature using the bottom knob.
Setting the Temperature:
Turn the knob clockwise (usually towards the "colder" side) to lower the temperature.
Turn the knob counterclockwise (towards the "warmer" side) to raise the temperature.

Adjusting the fridge compartment temperature may cause a small change in the freezer temperature.
Remember to allow some clearance around the freezer for proper ventilation.

Freezer temp is below zero it is minus 2.00 will not adjust.

Negative 2 degrees is a good temperature for freezers, but if you want it warmer, raise the thermostat up (warmer temp) In the refrigerator section, & open damper (or set the adjuster knob in the back of the freezer to warmer). If the motor is making a loud noise, it may be hitting ice built up from the evaporator...thaw out.

How do I get my maytag side by side refrigerator model# msd2756geq to cool down below 50

first turn your refrigerator temp setting to 1 then wait for the compressor to kick off, this will send the unit into defrost mode, and most units take between 1 to 2 hours to acclimate(get tempered) correctly. after a few hours gradually turn your unit towards 9 until the compressor kicks on, when it does , stop turning the knob, it will acclimate again, 1-2 hours (some units can acclimate in 15 minutes) check your unit temp and do not use the unit if it won't cool down to 43 or less degrees, you run the chance of food poisoning. hope this was helpful.

True T-49 refrigerator/freezer temperature calibration

Contact the manufacture, it is most likely going to be covered under warranty. If the knob is not removable, (check for a set screw on the side of the knob it will take a small allen wrench) Then the thermostat (temp controller) will need to be replaced, if it isn't a style that you can calibrate.

Freezer does not get as cold as the setting made but refrigerator

If the unit is working correctly, it could be that you are trying to adjust the freezer with the wrong knob. The fresh food section is cooled by forced air from the freezer and can get about as cold as the freezer if not adjusted correctly. The thermostat its self controls only the temp in the freezer. Some times telling which is which is confusing. Here is the best way to tell the difference.
The knob that will turn the unit off is the thermostat. The other one controls how much air can be forced into the fresh food section. The thermostat should be adjusted to where the freezer stays around -10 degrees. The other knob should be set so the the fresh food section stays between 35 and 38 degrees. If this does not help or if you find that there is indeed a problem with you unit, please get back with me and I'll be glade to walk you through diagnosing the problem.
Please post a rating if solution is helpful. Thanks
