Mitsubishi 5511 getting a code 22 - short protection fault. How

error code 22 is a short protect circuit. this means the tv has found a problem in the tv and will not let it turn on till fixed. this could be several different circuits in the tv that is causing this. we need to test some parts to see what this is. the most common is a shorted convergence circuit. a repair on this would range around 400.00. You should check using a multimeter and also you should be good at soldering

PS:I strongly advice if you don't have experience in electronics then better leave this job to a tech

Error code 22 indicates "short-circuit protect" fault is PWB power board part# 930B900001
Please understand that with a short in the power supply, you may also have problems in other areas. (i.e. Multiple problems)

Available error codes for this unit are as follows:

12.....No error has occurred

21.....X-Ray protect circuit

22.....Short protect circuit

23.....Horizontal deflection failure

24.....Vertical deflection failure

this is a V22 chassis circa 2003/2004
you could have an issue in 1 or multiple circuits. it is key if you can determine any error code. Error code is determined by blinking LEDs on front of unit after it shuts down. It will blink a certain number of times, pause then blink another certain number of times. It repeats this cycle 5 times.
12...no fault detected
21...X-Ray protect
22...short circuit protect

23...deflection circuit
Continuous flash...most likely DM circuit.

Check these two green pico fuses F9A04 and F9A05 to see if they have continuity, if they dont have continuity the Convergence iC and those two picos will need replacement.

22 is the code for short protection. Which means the set has shot down due to one of the components being shorted. My quess would be at least a 3 to 4 hundred dollar repair maybe more depending on the shops integrity.

that usually refers to either a diode or transistor in the xray protection circuit. There are only about 8 or 9 components that can cause that you will need the service manual to isolate which components make up that protection circuit. If you do have the service info and would like it I can post a link where you can get the mitsubishi service manual emailed to you cheaper than anywhere else on line.

your set is the V17 series so a code 22 means short protect. Which means the TV has a short circuit condition and is shutting down to prevent further damage.
