Cannot get the tv into 'video1' (or ' video2') mode

I got the tv from a friend who accidentally threw away the original remote; the 'Direct TV' controller they gave me turns the tv on but I can't get the dvd player I hooked up in 'Aux 1' to work; no owners manual given but when I looked it up online it appears I need to get the tv into 'video1' setting. I can't figure out what to do to get the tv into 'video1' or 'video 2' mode...argh!

Thank you!

Unfortunately you need the original remote. There is still a good chance you can find a Sanyo universal remote. Check your local Circuit city or Super K mart or Walmart and look inthe electronics sections. I have often seen the Sanyo universal remote! And yes it will have the options you are looking for. Good Luck!

How do i get ot the aux channel?

Try changes the input on your TV. You will need the TV remote that came with your TV, or a universal remote that has been configured to work with your TV. Find a button on your remote that reads "Source" or "Input". This will cycle through the sources and inputs of your TV including AUX, VIDEO1, VIDEO2, etc.

I dont know if it is my wii but my tv is black and white/grey and white what can i do to repair it?

If your TV is only black and white while playing on the Wii, this is indicative of a problem with either the A/V cable or the A/V ports on your television.
If you have a friend who owns a Wii, try using their cable, or change the A/V jacks to a different set of ports on your television.
NOTE: The A/V jacks are the red, white, and yellow plugs that plugs into your Wii on one end and into your TV on the other. If, for example, these jacks are under VIDEO1 on your TV and you switch the viewing mode to VIDEO1 to play Wii, then try moving them to a set of A/V plugs under VIDEO2. If this is an older TV, there may be only one set of plugs on the TV itself. Try the console on a different TV. It may be time to get a new television. This often happens on older TV's.

Need the remote code for a phillips dvd player

These are the codes printed in the owners manual for your dvd/vcr player. If they do not work you will have to contact Emerson and ask them for help getting the code. The contact number should have come with the instructions for the remote. Just give them the model number of you remote and the units model number and they should be able to help you. I hope this information helps you with your problem. Switch the input selector on your TV to an appropriate external input channel (usually near channel 0).
Press a button on the TV’s original remote control that selects an external input channel until the DVD
recorder’s picture appears. Check your TV owner’s manual for details.

Abilities of Universal Remotes

Yes!
When you define different activities (such as Watch TV, Watch DVD, etc.) the remote will ask which of the TV inputs your device is plugged into.  After programming, when you select the appropriate activity, the remote will automatically select the correct input.
