KitchenAid ACCOLADE 400 Mixer. When mixing dough the bowl jumps out of the the bowl lock. How can this problem be resolved?

I know this sounds a bit simple but the bowl cup can sometimes actually wear out and a very fast (# screws) and a new one and the problem is solved. If however there is a problem on the head hold down set screw (under the mixer in the cavity ) it can come loose then the mixer head can bounce all over the place causung the bowl to get loose in the holding cup at the base of the mixer., I hope this helps, let us know if you need more, we can FixYa

Is a kitchen aid model # KSM5PSAC the same as KSM150SP?

The KSM5 and the KSM150 are different mixers. They are both 5 quart mixers and use the same gearing and motor. However the bowl design is different. The KSM5 is a 5 quart bowl lift, which means the bowl locks into the arms of the mixer and raises towards the head of the mixer, where the ksm150 mixer is a artisan mixer, which is also a 5quart mixer, but the head of the mixer tilts back and the bowl twists into the base ring to lock into place. These two mixers will take different bowls and beaters.

KitchenAid KSM150 bowl won't stay put

If the base is not holding the bowl properly then only a replacement base plate or another bowl is going to fix it. The base plate is held onto the pedestal with 3 Philips head screws.

Kitchenaid mixer makes a lot of noise. The beater

Hi - I've been searching for general info on KitchenAid stand mixers and ran across this so I'm throwing my $.02 in... Since KA stand mixer bases are essentially made of cast metal parts, there is a very slim chance that there is a lateral misalignment (side-side) unless it got dropped...eek! Sounds like a head height adjustment issue. Check out this from KitchenAid Conversations:

Good luck.

We just purchased the custom kitchen aid stand mixer on a boxing day special. We used it tonight to make cookies and then could not remove the bowl from the base. We are going to try the icecubes. If this...

The bowl screws into the base and can get quite tight if the mixer has been turning thick dough or other mixes. We usually tap the handle on the bowl with the palm of our hand a few times and that generally frees it. The other posibility is that the bowl was put into the base slightly askew. This could be more of a problem as this can cause the base plate to get damaged. Usually though if this happens you would have noticed some bad noises almost instantly you turned the mixer on.

Mixer component vibrates; seems to sit too low; beaters rub against bowl; alignment seems wrong

Hi, LAHR, by the symptoms you describe it appears that it’s time to adjust your mixer’s "Beater to Bowl Clearance" adjustment screw, which should be a pretty easy to do by yourself.
The instructions for adjusting your beater to bowl clearance are located in your Owners Manual. If you don’t have the original manual you can easily download a PDF version of it from the KA website: (http://www.kitchenaid.com/flash.cmd?/#/page/home).
Click on Customer Care>Locate Manuals& Guides> and enter the 6 character model number, in your case KSM150 and select the file listed for your model that appears under Owners Manuals (66) KSM150PSER1.pdf (732.33 KB) and save that file to your PC. Turn to Page 14 and you will find the instructions for adjusting the mixer head height.
But to save you some time, I have extracted the instructions below:
Beater to Bowl Clearance
Your mixer is adjusted at the factory so that the flat beater just clears the bottom of the bowl. If for any reason, the flat beater hits the bottom of the bowl or is too far away from the bowl, clearance

Tilt-Head models
• Unplug mixer.
• Lift motor head.
56a2398.jpg

• Turn screw (A) SLIGHTLY counter clockwise (left) to raise flat beater or clockwise (right) to lower flat beater.
• Make adjustment with flat beater, so it just clears surface of bowl.
If you over adjust the screw, the bowl lock lever may not lock into place.

I hope this helps! – Howard, Burke, VA

KitchenAid K5 Mixer Bowl Rocks Back & Forth

This may be explained with the bowl assembly. Being a bowl lift mixer, please follow the following steps to make sure the bowl is being secured before mixing:

There are the bowl-holding arms on the left and right hand side of the mixer. You will place the bowl on these arms, securing it onto the pegs.

Also, take your fingertips and press down firmly at the back of the bowl where it is resting against the base. You will hear an audible click as the bowl secures down into a spring latch mechanism on the stand mixer base, allowing the mixing bowl to sit flush and secure.

Kitchen aid tilthead mixer will not lock down

The solution for both of these is a large screw that sits at the base of the head where the head and the base meet - you'll see it when you tilt the head up. This screw should not be all the way in. You can adjust how low the head goes- in the case of your blades hitting the bowl you'll want to let the screw out a bit; in the case of the locking, you'll want to screw it in a bit more.
