I have a N belkin router and have a problem with playing my friend online on PS3. We can not seem to get the server to hook up on madden nfl 10 football. Is there some way to lift any firewall that maybe pending on my router?

It could be that they are doing server maintanence on the servers. I play Socom online and they have scheduled maintanence everyday. Did the game seem laggy the last time you played? Are you having any issues on PSN?

Actually you don't need to forward ports when playing online games. The router should automatically locate the ports for the game because it has UPnP function. Here's what you can do. Disable the port forwarding and DMZ that you set on the router. Look for the UPnP function of the router and disable, Save it. Enable it again, then save. Now power cycle your router. If you have Static IP on the PS3 network settings, try to set it first to automatic IP and automatic DNS.

from the opening menu choose online and then either play now, or goto lobby. If you goto lobby choose lobby, (for starters pick my skill level) and then you can click on someones name and invite to a game, or if the invite you it will say so on the scrolling info bar at the bottom of the screen, thier name will also have a lightning bolt next to it if they invited you. click on them accept invite and try and win. my ID is dannmidge on the ps3 if you want to add me and we can play.

maybe the other person has blocked your user name by accident.

If it says ea servers not available that means the servers are down for maintenance, this is not unusual for video game servers, happens once or twice a month....

Also keep in mind playstation servers and xbox server are totally different.

Check you internet connection (example try to surf the net on the ps3, if you can then simply the madden servers are down)

Servers for games do go down every now and then for maintenance, it's not uncommon at all.
