Your phone is locked to the original carrier it came from, most likely AT&T. You can call them and ask for the unlock code and they should email it to you within a few days. They will need the 15 digit IMEI number that is on a sticker inside the phone under the battery. There are unlocking services that can get you the number but they charge $20 or more (see ebay) for something AT&T can give you for free. There is no standard unlock code. The code for each phone is unique for each IMEI number. Once unlocked you can use any SIM you like. Sorry it's not a simpler solution.
