Most of the time after the wep has been set you are not able to view the wep keys without knowing the keyword you used to genrate them a handy method for getting around this is resetting the router to its manufacturer defaults and reconfiguring it using the default gateway ip address this is done by using a pin and pushing a small button usually located on the rear of the router after doing that hook it up after restarting your modem and computer right click your connection icon in the lower right corner and click properties or network sharing center from there right click your connection and find your default gateway look for the number sequence after the default gateway and type that number into your internet explorers address bar it should prompt your for a username and password by default it is admin admin or admin password this should bring you to your routers settings and enabling wep should be under your wireless security settings

hope this helped
please leave feedback
thanks

HOW TO CONNECT MY NEW LAPTOP INSPIRON 15R TO BELKIN ROUTER MODEL F507230-4 VERSION 1112 WHAT IS THE PRCOCEDURE I DO NOT HAVE MANUALS

Theencryption key secures your data from unauthorized access. The router's password is a Passphrase or the WEP or WPA orWPA2 encryption key. The Passphrase generates the WEP or WPA or WPA2 encryptionkey and this is in the router's wireless settings. To connect to your wireless router, configure the router'swireless settings ie SSID, plus the WPAor WPA2 encryption key and then configure wireless cards in the laptops and orcomputers with these router's wireless settings. Then the laptops and desktopcomputers can communicate with your wireless router.

Where do I find the Network Key (or WEP or WPA Key) number for my Belkin F5D8236 router?

Hello cyndi0417.
If you have installed your router, and have a computer connected to it through one of the wired ports, you can follow these steps to find your WEP or WPA key.
Step 1.
Open a web browser of your choice, and in the address bar type in "192.168.2.1" (without the quotation marks).
Step 2.
Select "Login" from the upper right corner of the screen. Unless you have changed the administrator password, you can just click on the submit button.
Step 3.
Look under the "Wireless" heading on the left side of the page. There will be a selection for Security, which will contain the WEP or WPA settings. The numbers/letters in the boxes is your key.

I want to install my wii to my internet. I have a Belkin Router. I need a Security Key or password to get my wii onto my internet. What is the Security Key or password?

the security key is your wep key you can get this buy going on the router itself. Follow this trouble shooting guide and if you need help or it still doesnt work follow up with a comment and i will assist you further. Please try the following troubleshooting: Are you using WEP or WPA security on your router? Log into the router using the default IP (consult your router's manual for assistance) Locate the "wireless security" section of your router settings and find the WEP or WPA key. If you are using 64-bit encryption, the WEP Key must be a 10-character key consisting of numbers or letters A through F. If you are using 128-bit encryption, the WEP Key must be a 26-character key consisting of numbers or letters A through F. The WEP Key must be a Hexadecimal (0-9, A-F, no other special characters or letters). If your router has multiple slots for a WEP Key, make sure the active key is the one in the #1 slot. If you are using WPA, the Wii console is compatible with the following types: WPA - PSK (TKIP) WPA - PSK (AES) WPA2 - PSK (AES)
If your WEP or WPA key is correct, then the problem might be related to MAC address filtering: From the router settings, locate the "MAC address filter" settings (also known as "access control", "access list", or "network filter" depending on your router model). If the Mac address filter is set to "enabled", then you must add the Wii's MAC address to the "allowed" list. You can locate the Wii's MAC address from the "console information" page (located under "Internet" in the Wii Settings). If the Mac address filter was disabled, then continue troubleshooting.

Check Nintendo's router info for special notes, if available, for your router. Click here to go to our Wireless Router lookup page. Use the drop-down box to select, if available, your router manufacturer. Click on your router's model number, if available. Read any "special notes" at the top of the router's page. Many issues can be solved by changing settings described in the "special notes."

Try a "Manual Setup" with the Wii console (how to), using your network's IP configuration settings. To access these settings: On your PC, click "Start" and then "Run." Type "CMD" into the field that appears to open a new window. Type "IPCONFIG/ALL" and press "Enter" to display a list of internet settings. Locate the settings asked for by the Wii console during the Manual Setup process and enter them.

Power cycle your router and modem by unplugging them both from the wall. Wait a few minutes, and plug the modem back in. Wait a couple of minutes for the modem to initialize, then turn on the router. Try to connect the Wii console online and test for proper response. if you require further assistance please let me know and i will be glad to assist you. -Midwest-tek

Is the PIN on the bottom of the router the same as the WEP or WPA?

WEP or WPA are the types of wireless security. If your wireless network is secured then there will be a password on the network that is called as wireless network key or passphrase ( WEP or WPA key ). PIN number is different than WEP or WPA.
To check the wireless network key ( WEP / WPA) you will need to access the router settings page.
On that page , you will find all the settings of the router.

How do I set up my router so that my neighbors can not use my internet and keep them from down loading.

You must secure the wireless connection. All of this is done by accessing the router properties and go to "security" and make a WEP key. Once this is completed, your connection should show a padlock, Locked. If you have other PC's / laptops in the house you will need to put this WEP key in simply by trying to connect to your secured network. You will get a request box to type in the WEP key. Do so and that laptop will always be able to access your connection. You only do this once.

For instruction son this go to your routers website and download the manual for it.

Error Code: 52030 unable to connect to Belkin wireless internet

This error code usually indicates a problem relating to wireless security. Please try the following troubleshooting:
  1. Are you using WEP or WPA security on your router?
    1. Log into the router using the default IP (consult your router's manual for assistance)
    2. Locate the "wireless security" section of your router settings and find the WEP or WPA key.
    3. If you are using 64-bit encryption, the WEP Key must be a 10-character key consisting of numbers or letters A through F.
    4. If you are using 128-bit encryption, the WEP Key must be a 26-character key consisting of numbers or letters A through F.
    5. The WEP Key must be a Hexadecimal (0-9, A-F, no other special characters or letters).
    6. If your router has multiple slots for a WEP Key, make sure the active key is the one in the #1 slot.
    7. If you are using WPA, the Wii console is compatible with the following types:
      • WPA - PSK (TKIP)
      • WPA - PSK (AES)
      • WPA2 - PSK (AES)

  2. If your WEP or WPA key is correct, then the problem might be related to MAC address filtering:
    1. From the router settings, locate the "MAC address filter" settings (also known as "access control", "access list", or "network filter" depending on your router model).
    2. If the Mac address filter is set to "enabled", then you must add the Wii's MAC address to the "allowed" list. You can locate the Wii's MAC address from the "console information" page (located under "Internet" in the Wii Settings).
    3. If the Mac address filter was disabled, then continue troubleshooting.

  3. If your connection was working previously, try power cycling your router and modem by unplugging them both from the wall. Wait a few minutes, and plug the modem back in. Wait a couple of minutes for the modem to initialize, then turn on the router. Try to connect the Wii console online and test for proper response. (Some routers may lose their connection to the Wii console while it is in Standby or turned off for a period of time. Check with your router manufacturer's website for the latest firmware, as there may be an update that will help prevent this issue from occurring in the future.)
  4. Try adjusting the "Channel" your wireless router broadcasts on. We highly recommend setting your wireless router to either channel 1 or 11. This can potentially increase the download speed. For information on accessing your router's settings, click here to select the brand name and model number of your router (if available).
  5. Try a "Manual Setup" with the Wii console (how to), using your network's IP configuration settings. To access these settings:
    1. On your PC, click "Start" and then "Run."
    2. Type "CMD" into the field that appears to open a new window.
    3. Type "IPCONFIG/ALL" and press "Enter" to display a list of internet settings. Locate the settings asked for by the Wii console during the Manual Setup process and enter them.

How to make it a secure network

Malicious users can easily capture information transmitted over an open wireless network. To prevent unauthorized access to your personal information it needs to be encrypted.

To secure your wireless network some kind of encryption must be enabled on that network, whether it is WEP, WPA-PSK (or MAC Access Control List). The most used method (and easiest to configure) is WEP.

Configuring WEP:
  1. Connect a computer to any one of the four LAN ports of the Belkin wireless router.
  2. Open your web browser and type the router IP address of the router (by default, the address is http://192.168.2.1.) in the address bar and press Enter.
  3. Click Login on the top of the page to login to the router. By default the Password is left blank, click Submit.
  4. Click Security under Wireless menu.
  5. Under Security, Select 64 bit WEP (or 128 bit WEP).
  6. Select Key 1 and enter any 10 hexadecimal digits - any combination of 0-9, A-F (26 digits if you selected 128-bit as the encryption strength). You may also enter a pass phrase and have the router generate a key for you.
  7. Apply the settings. Please write down the key – You will need it later to configure your wireless computers with the same key.
Any other questions, let me know.

Cheers,
Nick
